Have you fallen into the "freighter cult" too?

Yesterday, I saw the title of an article that said the word "cargo plane worship" and felt that it should not be a subject of interest to me. I originally wanted to skip it and not read it. But after scanning the text, I found that this freighter worship is not a commercial term or related to the aviation industry, but is related to anthropology, that is, human behavior.

Are you as surprised as I am when you see this, and do you also think that cargo plane worship should describe some kind of business behavior? But this seemingly boring term was coined by anthropologists in 1945, and in fact there is an interesting story behind it.

The so-called cargo plane is the plane that carries cargo in your mind. During World War II, the US military occupied a small island in the South Pacific. They built a strip of airstrips on the island. The cargo plane also carried a lot of materials from the civilized world.

The natives on the island were stunned, because they had never seen such a magical thing, so they believed that the cargo plane was the messenger of the gods, bringing them a lot of novel materials, and they thought that the radio earphones hung on the heads of the US military were a kind of gods. 's magic weapon.

After the end of World War II, the U.S. military left the island, and the natives could only look at the empty runways and communication rooms in nostalgia for the beauty of civilization. Later, the wizards and elders came up with a good method. Why don't they call the gods themselves?

So they put coconut shells cut in half on their ears, used them as radio earphones, took bamboo poles as antennas, and had someone waving banana leaves on the runway. Can summon a cargo plane back.

"Cargo plane worship" is about the absurd behavior of human beings, thinking that as long as there is a form, it can bring real results. There are still many examples of freight plane worship.

One example is that the weight of creation is not important to the quality. The creator thinks that as long as a large amount of production is produced, enough content can be seen and paid attention by everyone. Of course, the number of works must be sufficient, but mass production does not care about the quality of the finished product, which will only cause bad things in the end. influences.

Blindly applying various techniques and indicators to one's own work or personal brand is also not necessarily able to obtain substantial benefits. I have mentioned similar thinking before, but at that time I did not know the theory of "cargo plane worship".

Anyone who runs a self-media or personal brand knows that there is a lot of information on the Internet that teaches people how to operate self-media content creation.

And this information is like the US military who went to the island. They have a set of methods they have learned through trial and error, including flying cargo planes, using radio connections, and civilized materials.

People who have never been in contact with but want to start running We-Media seem to be natives on a small island. Looking at the way the U.S. military operates, they think that they can bring those supplies just like the U.S. military by applying these models.

Therefore, whether you are running a self-media or learning anything, don’t just apply the superficial skills and forms. Doing so is just an empty skin, but in essence, you can’t get anything. You must understand how these skills actually come. And why a certain skill can bring such an effect, only after you figure it out will you know if it is suitable for you, or how to operate it.
