一個在獲得肺腺癌末期患者頭銜後更加迷茫的大叔

If you could only live another ten years, what would you do? After reading "10 Years of Your Life"

If you could only live another ten years, what would you do? It still feels long and leisurely, right? Or does it feel short-lived and full-bodied? What would you do in the next instant if you heard a doctor announce that you had only ten more years to live?
Author: Ruka Kosaka Title: 10 Years of My Life

The summary of the story is actually that the heroine was sentenced by a doctor to have only 10 years of life at the age of 20, and how to spend it, of course, there is a love story in the middle. In fact, there are really quite a few novels or comics on this subject. The ones I can think of are " Then September Comes Without You ", " You Shine in the Moonlight Night ", " April Is Your Lie ", " First Intimacy " and more.

But there is a big difference in this one, and that is that the novel is based on the author's personal experience (should)!

🔷 Author brief introduction and plot introduction

The author Kosaka Ruka was born in 1978, was diagnosed with an incurable disease in college, and died in 2017. In his 38 years of life, he published two works, "10 Years of My Life" was published before his death, and " As Long as He Was Alive " was published after his death. After the author's life on Google, he felt that the title of the book expressed the author's heart. Had the author lived a few more years, she would have seen her work made into a film and translated into Chinese.

As mentioned above, the outline of the story is that the heroine Jasmine was sentenced by a doctor to have only 10 years to live when she was 20 years old. The story revolves around how she spent these 10 years. From the beginning of Jasmine's fearlessness and intoxication of her own destiny, to the later stage of praying that she would not have any thoughts of not wanting to die. In contrast to the other works mentioned above, the point of view of the story is not a person who died young. I think that these authors are either imaginary or have experiences similar to those of bystanders, unlike the author of this book who has the experience of the parties involved.

🔷 Why is it worth seeing?

  • Thought-provoking: From the end of the first chapter, the author asks the reader: "If you could only live another ten years, what would you do? Does it feel long and leisurely? Or does it feel short and full of power? What would you do in the next instant if you heard the doctor announce that you had only ten more years to live?"
  • A lot of details make the characters full: such as "Smile is her biggest defense. In order not to be hated, in order not to let people know who she is."
  • Understand the mood of the person sentenced to death by the doctor: At the end of each chapter, there will be a heroine's mental journey, let us know more about her inner pain.
  • Love life more: Although I think this kind of myself is too much, most of the time, people only know how happy they are when they see other people's miserable lives. For example, you will know how happy you are when you see Ukraine in the war.
  • Refer to the way others face death

🔷 Afterword

The movie version has been released in Taiwan in June this year, but Singapore doesn't seem to have it... I can only wait to see when Netflix will be released... I want to watch it...
