How do we cast light? _How NFT becomes a new medium for art mass participation

Take Kng NFT and the exhibition "Light - Enlightenment and Consciousness of Taiwanese Culture" as an example.

arts. Soybean puree ( FAB DAO )

Kng is an NFT project (published on the AkaSwap platform of the Tezos blockchain, akaSwap ) derived from the exhibition "Light - The Enlightenment and Consciousness of Taiwanese Culture" at the Beijing Normal University Art Museum (full name is the Beijing Normal University Art Museum, National Taipei University of Education, hereinafter referred to as MoNTUE). - Light | Kng ), is the first NFT project of an art museum in Taiwan that integrates the concept of mass participation. Kng is the meaning of light in Tailuo Pinyin (Taiwanese Hokkien Romaji Pinyin). In addition to Kng NFT, Kng DAO is an art and literature digital community operated by Beijing Normal University Art Museum with the goal of DAO (Decentralized Governance Organization).

Exhibition Banner of Kng NFT

This article narrates the process of participating in Kng NFT planning and co-casting from a personal point of view. The main goal is to discuss how art and cultural institutions such as art galleries or museums can use NFT (non-fungible tokens) as an extension of exhibition halls, exhibitions, and exhibits. , a new type of cultural activity. This article is a single narrative and a single case analysis, the process is from March to June 2022 from the beginning of the planning idea to the end of the action, including goals, methods and results.

NFT is a digital asset that is recognized by a relatively large number of people. Similar digital property concepts have not been widely recognized and circulated in the past. For example, private companies issue virtual tokens, video game publishers issue virtual treasures, etc. All are digital assets. NFT is derived from blockchain technology and based on mechanism and trust design, it can be more widely trusted by users everywhere. Under this premise, NFT has multiple forms and multiple goals. If all NFT projects (or project parties) are generalized, it is easy to generate reverie and misunderstanding. FAB DAO (Formosa Art bank DAO) focuses on the research and practice of non-profit NFT (Non-Profit NFT), casting culture with "spiritual value" into a token, strengthening the exchange of culture itself, Exchange, transaction (Cultural Property Transaction) function. This article is based on the case of MoNTUE, the Kng NFT in cooperation with the "Light" exhibition team and FAB DAO for self-analysis.

In fact, it is not a new topic for museums and galleries to start exploring the feasibility of NFTs. WAC Lab (Unlocking Web3 for the Arts and Culture, a ribbon event for cultural and exhibition discussions on the Tezos blockchain, run by We Are Museum, eight European museums and Tezos-related funds) published a paper in April this year A summary of the conversation, titled "NFTs Aren't A Get-Rich-Quick Scheme, Here's How Museums Can Use Them In Fundraising" ( NFTs Aren't A Get-Rich-Quick Scheme, Here's How Museums Can Use Them In Fundraising ), analyzed multiple The museum's "failed" release case, trying to sterilize and remove the charm for entry-level cultural workers. The article concludes that "crowd participation" will be the key to the success of museums issuing NFTs. And I think Kng NFT is a successful and early attempt.

Maybe it was a coincidence, or maybe it was because we, deeply edified by Taiwanese culture, justly named our self-organization as Formosa Art Bank nine months ago. And this "Light" exhibition is an exhibition that explores the dawn of the Formosa Art Age (quoted from the first chapter of the catalogue of the same name as Light, Teacher Yan Juanying's title—Pray for the Nectar Dew Water—The Formosa Art Age advent). I am very fortunate and humble to thank the production team of Bei Shi and the contemporary echo of "Light" for allowing us to participate.

Before entering the project analysis, I will introduce Taiwan, the museum and the significance of this exhibition for overseas readers. (If you are Taiwanese, you can skip this paragraph)

What is Taiwan?

Taiwan is an island located on the east side of the Asian mainland, and it is called Formosa (Portuguese means beautiful island, this name is associated with the period of great voyages and mercantilism). Currently living in 23 million people, speaking Chinese as the main language, and self-identification is mostly Taiwanese (94%, National Chengchi University Election Research Center 2021 data). It was ruled by Chinese dynasties for hundreds of years in the past, ruled by Japan for fifty years from 1895-1945 AD, and substantially governed by the government of the Republic of China (ROC) after 1945 AD. Although it is currently the 18th largest economy in the world, it is still not recognized by most countries in the world. The reason is that the People's Republic of China does not recognize the two Chinas and unilaterally does not allow Taiwan independence. In the decades since the island of Taiwan has moved from an authoritarian regime to an era of democratization, all circles (such as sports, politics, arts and culture) are often faced with problems of self-identity and independence. In a word, Taiwan is located on the frontier of power, and even with its economic prosperity, it is still an orphan of Asia. (アジアのgu'er, published in 1946, a Japanese novel by writer Wu Zhuoliu, describing the identity dilemma of Taiwanese at that time)

What is "Light - Enlightenment and Consciousness of Taiwanese Culture"?

This is an exhibition showing the archives research of Taiwan Modern Art and Literature Association Movement, from the end of 2021 to the middle of April 2022.

Quoted from the fan page of Beijing Normal University Art Museum

The year 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the Taiwan Cultural Association. The Taiwan Cultural Association was a cultural organization established during the Japanese occupation period. The Cultural Association is cultural, with the purpose of promoting the development of Taiwan's culture, with the goal of enlightening the people and improving culture (quoted from a special article in the catalogue, the program host Zhou Yaoyao). The Cultural Association has held hundreds of events before and after. In the 1910s, the world's new ideas were surging. Taiwan did not fall behind, using "cultural advancement" as a means to strive for basic human dignity and human dignity in a colonized society. Independence, this is Taiwan's first cultural self-consciousness (quoted from Catalogue General, chief planner Lin Manli).

In 2021, various cultural groups and cultural institutions in Taiwan, both private and official, will hold relevant exhibitions with the theme of "Art Association", which can be called the year of Taiwan's conscious commemorative activities. The news of "Light" for the public is that the "Nectar Water" statue was discovered and debuted after half a century of dust. Because of the image of the girl standing tall from the shell, and the historical position of the producer Huang Tushui in the history of Taiwanese art, the mass media called it " Taiwan's Venus ". Ganlushui is a statue made by Taiwanese artist Huang Tushui in 1921 and was selected for the Imperial Exhibition. In the same year, Huang Tushui wrote an essay "Born in Taiwan" to express his love for Taiwanese land. Chief planner Lin Manli said in the general remarks that in the prototype of the "Light" exhibition in 2021, exactly one hundred years later, "Nectar Dew" is the most solid and powerful work reflecting the times.

"Born in this country, you love this country, and you are born in this land to love this land. This is human nature. Although art has no borders and can be created anywhere, we still miss the land where we were born. Taiwan is a beautiful island, and it is even more nostalgic." - Huang Tushui (Born in Taiwan), 1922.

And Lin Manli called it "the work of fantasy" because the nectar water disappeared from Taiwanese society for decades, and was hidden in the Zhang family's factory. In his speech at the opening of the exhibition, Mr. Zhang Shiwen said, "I recalled what my father said, when people from other provinces know how to respect people from other provinces, and people from other provinces know that they must respect Taiwanese, it is the time to return "Nectar Dew" to the country. Isn’t today the right time!” (In the past, Taiwanese society used to refer to people from this province as Taiwanese, and people from other provinces as people who immigrated to Taiwan from China since 1949, but after several generations, it is less commonly referred to as this binary classification. Of.)

In addition, the exhibition is dated from 1881 to 1949. It exhibits the works of many artists who participated in the Cultural Association, documents, historical research results, etc. There are many works that are usually hard to see, and there are also rigorous academic analysis. Analysis of Taiwanese in Japan Enlightenment and Modernity Practice in the Domination Period.

The contemporary echo unit of the exhibition is also the main feature, created by a team of young artists. Including Huang Bangquan and Lin Junni leading the production of Die Wege video interactive installation and cultural association video display, "Nan Dew Water" documentary of the same name, etc., Ruan Opera Troupe also produced "The People Joining Club B" in the form of imitation exhibitions.

The production team of Contemporary Echo is also the production team of Kng NFT to be introduced later.

What is Beijing Normal University Art Museum?

The ten-year-old Beijing Normal University Art Museum is a university art museum under the National Taipei University of Education. The year before "Light", the Beijing Normal University Art Museum had planned a phenomenon-level exhibition "Immortal Youth" among the general public. Among them, the work "Girl Bust" by Huang Tushui was also invited from Taiping Elementary School to the museum for display. . It shows the spirit of the times that the artists of this generation have pursued "spiritual immortality" through artistic creation (quoted from the website of the museum).

At the same time, as an old school that has been established for more than 100 years, Beijing Normal University has cultivated Taiwanese elites and the first generation of modern Western painters in Taiwan. There were also two major student movements in Beijing Normal University during the period of the Beijing Normal University. During the process, Taiwanese (Taiwanese, Japanese had to be spoken at that time) was used as a means of resistance, and many students were dropped out of school because of this, including the artists in the "Light" exhibition. The Beijing Normal University was of great significance in the cultural movement at that time, and it is worth pondering how this young art museum handles the century-old issue of the Cultural Association.

As for its personnel structure, I think it is worth mentioning at this time, which may be related to why the Kng NFT project can be finalized to the actual casting in just one month. The Beijing Normal University Art Museum, which was established only ten years ago, was curated by Professor Lin Manli, who has retired as an honorary professor and is now the chairman of the National Art Association. In the past, he served as the director of the National Palace Museum, the director of the Taipei Art Museum, and gave birth to the Taishin Art Award, the International Biennale, etc. As a representative of Taiwan's art and culture circles, there is no need to analyze it in detail. In mid-2021, Wang Ruoxuan (Rocean for short) will serve as the new director of the art museum. The key figures behind this project and the smooth operation of the administrative machine are Mr. Man Li and Rocean (the information is quoted from the collection magazine article - Fengjia Art Museum and Beijing Normal University Art Museum. Start the vertical movement of talents, Ye Jiarong and Wang Ruoxuan are in charge of the new atmosphere of the organization), of course, the mini administrative team of the Northern Division has invested a lot of time in this project, which is also the key to the smooth operation of the project.

If there is not enough flexibility and courage, many public/educational units will easily get stuck in the early stages such as the recognition of cryptocurrency financial accounting (mainly recognized as virtual currency in Taiwan) when they set foot in the new world we call web3. Not to mention more varied and varied attempts with NFTs. According to personal experience, financial and accounting concerns are often at odds with flexible and changeable planning. A complete NFT project, whether commercial or non-profit, will have a large number of non-NFT activities, such as physical activities, online activities, marketing systems, community operations, etc., which require the participation of multiple teams and invisible personnel expenditures. Under the challenges of various layers, I, who assisted me from the side, think that it is no accident that the North Division was able to complete the Kng NFT.

Finally, the Beijing Normal University Art Museum is located beside Heping East Road, Taipei. It has a large floor-to-ceiling window, and there is a MRT passing by. Different natural light shines on the exhibition hall at different times of the day. This is also Kng NFT or "Light" An important element of the exhibition.

Birth of Kng NFT

With the previous introduction, let's go back to NFT itself, how is Kng NFT created? Or, based on the above basic information, how to plan a digital asset that fits the context of "literature associations and modern art"?

This Kng NFT series is the works of artists Huang Bangquan and Lin Junni, produced by the contemporary echo team of "Light".

Back to the beginning of March, there was still one month before the end of the "Light" exhibition. At that time, it was introduced by Ms. Zheng Yali, CEO of Taishin Art Foundation, and she gave a brief introduction to cultural NFTs at the Beijing Normal University Art Museum with Hao Ning and Wen Jun, members of FAB DAO. At that time, it was really a newborn calf who was not afraid of tigers. We said that the Formosa Art Bank wanted to be a Metaverse Public Welfare Art Fund. It was really arrogant. Young people up and down the age group advocated that they were moved a lot and were more humble.

The next week, director Bang Quan and Jun Ni of the Beijing Normal University Art Museum and the production team of Contemporary Echoes began to discuss the feasibility and preliminary planning of the "Light" exhibition NFT. When discussing non-profit NFTs, I am accustomed to start the discussion from three directions. Is the goal of this NFT, existence, dialogue, or profit? "Existence" is the active digital preservation of things that are about to disappear; "Dialogue" is to generate an opportunity with new collectors or old audiences, and there is more space for positive two-way interaction; Funds to actively implement projects that could not otherwise be implemented.

From the previous WAC lab and my own experience, most organizations want to use NFT to hold activities, often because of profit, but there are often only a few who can really succeed. Successful people often need detailed and thoughtful design, and a deep understanding of the ever-changing web3 market. Therefore, in the field of contemporary art, successful art NFTs often have web3 agents to cooperate or execute on their behalf. Successful cases such as Takashi Murakami, Banksy, Cai Guoqiang, Damien Hirst, etc. (the generative art market is not discussed in the field of contemporary art). ).

From the above context, MoNTUE is quite special. From the very beginning, it has set the tone. This is a process of dialogue, and it is mainly about exhibitions, supplemented by exhibits and exhibition venues. This gives me a lot of peace, because any classic art work that is directly violently cast as NFT for sale will face many problems, such as legitimacy (why me?), conflict of interest (who should profit or lose? ), ownership (who will authorize the physical world?). Not to mention that in the mass media, nectar is like the sacred status of Taiwan's Venus, the process is uncertain, but there will be a public relations crisis.

In the face of classic IP, museums and art galleries often translate, and the NFT world is no exception. If it is commissioned by a manufacturer such as an advertising agency, a design company (or a new type of web3 platform shopping mall) to make it, I call it a souvenir model. A mountain trip map ) is combined and sold on the shelves; in the UK, the British Museum, Katsushika Hokusai and Turner's Pop-up store are used as examples, and the works are directly certified and cast; if an artist is commissioned to recreate, I call it a work of art Models, such as this Kng NFT, are made by the contemporary echo team of the "Light" exhibition as a young artist. Although the above two processes are the same, the target audience, expected benefits and feelings are completely different.

A New Interpretation of the Way of Thorns

The idea of Kng NFT originated from the earliest conception of the "Light" exhibition by artists Bang Quan and Jun Ni (hereinafter referred to as Bang Ni), Die Wege (taken from the poem "The Way of Thorns" by left-wing poet Wang Baiyuan), even Ganlu The water has yet to be found. Die Wege originally wanted to use the technology of trajectory positioning and photogrammetry (Photogrammetry) to track the movements of each visitor and create a path of light. In 2019, artist Huang Bangquan used photogrammetry to shoot the documentary " Last Year When the Train Passed by", which won the first prize in the experimental competition of the French Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival and the Taipei Film Festival. Million First Prize and Best Short Film Award.

Due to the appearance of Nectar, director Bonnie focused on the production of the documentary of the same name in "Nectar" and the way of thorns in the contemporary echo unit version (quoted from the two directors' conversation with FAB DAO at the Galaxy Bar). In addition, Director Bonnie and the Beijing Normal University Art Museum have a long-term cooperation tacit understanding and foundation of trust, and have cooperation experience since immortal youth. At the end of the exhibition, Director Bonnie re-proposed photogrammetry as the planning backbone of the Kng project. And through several rounds of tests, it is verified that the technology is feasible and the spirit is compatible with "Light".

Photogrammetry was often used in forensic science, archaeology, meteorological science and other disciplines in the past. Using multiple plane photos, the subject can be reconstructed into a three-dimensional object. This time, Bonny used photogrammetry technology to restore the "Light" exhibition, transformed it into a point cloud file (Point Cloud), and also presented the "Nectar Water" in the exhibition. But only by casting three-dimensional point cloud files on the shelves, there is no way to fully present the spirit of "Light". Similar creation methods, Taiwanese artists Hung Yu Hao , Aluan Wang , and Hong Likai ( Jerrythepopper ) all have previous castings (Hong Yuhao's works were acquired by Kevin Abosch at a high price the day before yesterday). For example, Artogo (accompany you to see the exhibition) also has a business model that uses related technologies to scan exhibitions and reproduce them in the digital world.

What is special about Kng NFT is that this NFT is gathered by the eyes of the crowd and the photos taken by the participants' mobile phones. This is the core feature of this Kng NFT.

Huang Bangquan believes that the documentary "Nectar Water" uses 16 cm film, and the photography used is a kind of light sculpture, a kind of subtraction. "It is also a subtractive technique with sculpting light that shoots through the lens into the photosensitive layer of the film." "If the film used in the "Nectar" documentary is for the carved marble, then through photogrammetry techniques and photos taken by the public, the exhibition will be reconstructed. The field is more like a clay sculpture.” (quoted from Bangquan’s Facebook article) The creation of Kng NFT is an addition, reshaping the exhibition through multi-center co-creation.

After Closing - 24 Hours Kng Workshop

The material of Kng NFT is a well-planned After Party and workshop. One day after the end of the exhibition, the Beijing Normal University Art Museum held a 24-hour event, with three hours as a unit, and held eight sessions without interruption. , and finally produced 24 kinds of NFT three-dimensional works.

Participants can view the exhibition at midnight or when the sun is shining, moments that are not normally seen. And at different moments, the light will show different appearances and sprinkle on the exhibits, especially for sculptures. As can be seen in the overview of the catalogue, Mr. Lin Manli particularly emphasized that "Nectar Water" was placed in the natural light exhibition space, in response to the appearance of the artist Loess Water in natural light.

“On the closing day of the exhibition, the Beijing Normal University Art Museum will hold a 24-hour co-creation workshop, inviting you to enter the art museum at a time when you can’t usually see it, and record the natural patterns of light and shadow that change and sprinkle on the exhibition hall at different times.” (quote quoted MoNTUE fan article)
24-hour workshop scene, photographed by Lin Yisheng

In addition, Kng NFT has many delicate production processes. The English name of the "Light" exhibition is Lumiere, and the "Light" NFT is called "Kng", which is derived from the Tailuo pinyin of light. Taiwanese (Taiwanese) was regarded as the subject of cultural movements in the 1920s, and many students were dropped out of school for speaking in Taiwanese during the student movement in Beijing Normal University. In addition, the name of each NFT is named by the poet Cai Wanxuan, such as Kng# 02 Lighting up – the intersection of the new era, Kng #14 Frozen Dew Water – Cultural Weed Club, Kng #17 Through Midday – Chidao Community People, All reflect the symbolic elements of exhibitions and cultural associations.

And each NFT is accompanied by unvoiced accompaniment, and the audience's voice recorded by the music/sound creators Wang Yujun and Zhou Zhen, capturing the audience's emotional sound of the "Light" exhibition (quoted from the MoNTUE fan article ). These sounds are the background sounds of the workshop and the recording equipment placed in the corner of the exhibition, so that the audience can listen to the background sounds and hum their inner voices. Afterwards, some participants said that they seemed to hear the sound of waves in the NFT. Artist Zhou Zhen said that it was the sound of the MRT passing by in the morning. What a beautiful misunderstanding.

Yujun filming the video of the audio recorder, photography by Lin Yisheng

The final video was produced by Wu Kejun and Jiang Beiyu. Kejun was also the digital video producer for the exhibition on the third floor, The Way of Thorns. Basically the entire contemporary echo team is back to making Kng NFTs. Judging from the rhythm of the proposal in mid-March, the workshop in mid-April, and the airdrop in May, it is really a tight schedule.

The way to get the light – a work proof of love

And these NFTs cannot be collected by direct purchase. There are two kinds of "Proof of Love" to obtain. The first is to participate in the workshop, to participate in the final exhibition and filming on the spot, and you will get NFT for that time period, a total of 400 people; the second is to purchase the catalogue of the "Light" exhibition, with a total of 2,000 copies, It sold out within days of its launch. Collectors can get a random airdrop of Kng NFT for free.

Under this premise, we can accurately grasp the people with the highest participation rate, which is beneficial to the subsequent community operation and development. A catalogue costs more than NT$1,000, and participating in the workshop late at night can screen out enthusiastic fans who are willing to sacrifice sleep to participate. Both of them have a high degree of love for MoNTUE. The workshop also ended successfully before the number of confirmed cases of the epidemic increased exponentially.

Light exhibition catalogue, quoted from Fanzhuan of Beijing Normal University Art Museum

In addition, two workshops were particularly interesting.

The first was a test workshop before the official 24-hour workshop to verify that photogrammetry was practically feasible. Since Kng NFT was published on the Tezos blockchain, nearly 40 collectors and art lovers on the Tezos blockchain were called to participate. They didn't know what they were actually going to do until they actually arrived at the scene. At that time, the Tezos collector community was called for, because these people are already familiar with NFT holding and trading, and have become a close community of more than 1,000 people in Taiwan. It was really touching that so many people could be found in the afternoon of the working day after calling only three days in advance. And the second test workshop became the No. 0 work "Light-Huawu Kng-huà-oo" . And these friends also became the early helpers in building the Kng DAO community in the future.

Kng test workshop photo

The second session is the first session of the 24-hour workshop, a special session for the younger generation of artists. If you look carefully at "Kng# 01 Lighting Up – The Noodle Stalls in the Darkness of the Sun" , "Kng#02 Lighting Up – Standing at the Crossroads of the New Era" and " Kng #03 Lighting Up – Boating on the Black Sea" , you will find that This is the only NFT with figures inside, these people are the descendants of the artists in the exhibition and the exhibition research team. Including the granddaughter of Chen Chengbo, the son of Li Meishu, the grandson and great-grandson of Chen Zhiqi, the son of Chen Qingfen, the son of Pu Tiansheng, the son of Lu Yunlin, the daughter-in-law and grandson of Lan Yinding, and the Zhang family who preserves the nectar. It also happens that their location is in front of the self-portrait exhibition area. These self-portraits were painted by their fathers and have now become treasures in the world. "These people who work hard to preserve the works of artists on weekdays, this time let us preserve the figures and voices of these people. I hope that those of you who get them can also feel that long moment in the boundless river of time." (quote If you are familiar with the preservation history and discovery history of Ganlushui, and then re-read Zhang Jia’s speech at the opening ceremony, you will feel warm to such a careful NFT design.

Airdrops in the era of literary associations and the era of web3

In addition to the Kng NFT body, there are also some surrounding NFTs in this entire operation, such as Hao Bang and the Galaxy Match series, both of which are the medium of airdrops.

One hundred years ago, Taiwan's first airliner, Xie Wenda, flew over Tokyo to drop a petition leaflet set up by the Taiwan Parliament. Now we use airdrops to create a new type of mass participation, which points to the recognition of the art exhibition of the Cultural Association.

Reprinted from the catalogue, Taiwan's first pilot, Xie Wenda, airdropped the Taiwan Parliament petition flyer over Tokyo

The idea that there will be good mussels is actually a consideration in experience design. We hope that those who have the catalogue can get immediate feedback when they complete the application for the airdrop. However, Kng NFT can only be obtained after the workshop and post-production are completed, and the sales time on the catalogue is much earlier than the workshop, so the good mussel was born. Hao Clam is taken from the marble clam shell at the foot of "Nectar Water", the clam shell of Loess Water is spitting water, and Hao Clam is a 3D interactive NFT, when you click on it, it will open reluctantly, but only when the time is up It will be fully opened so you can see what it looks like inside.

Reprinted from the catalogue, the clam shell at the feet of the nectar

When you hold the clam shell, when the time is up, the address will receive the real Kng NFT. Therefore, the clam shells become exchange coupons, and the exchange coupons can be circulated in the market, if they were ancient coins like shells in the past.

The Galaxy Match is a souvenir of the Kng DAO Discord event. The name is taken from the Galaxy Bar, and the name is taken from the Taiwanese writer - Weng Nao's life essay "Ronin Street on the outskirts of Tokyo - Kouenji Kaikuma" when he studied in Tokyo 86 years ago . The two directors also made a short film "Before the Dawn" on this theme, and now it is a meme for community management, creating a new type of lecture/salon.

Galaxy Match 999, produced by Jiang Beiyu

way of light

Due to the aforementioned community-led design, the Kng NFT project has attracted an active audience, which has made the operation of Kng DAO Discord smooth from the start. The structure of Kng DAO is that it is operated by MoNTUE, with two directors as the hosts of the sub-channel Galaxy Bar, who regularly hold activities on the top to talk to the audience. The entire Discord has attracted about 700 people to participate in a month, and the first Galaxy Bar opened with 100 participants, which is really amazing. Although it is not large compared to commercial NFT projects, it is a good achievement in terms of artistic and cultural activities and non-profit NFT operations.

Looking back, it should have achieved the purpose of "dialogue" that was originally set.

The exchange rate of Kng NFT is about 40%, which is beyond my imagination in terms of catalog exchange. Compared with the exchange rate of Zhang Huimei's concert AiSMR NFT, it is similar. This may be the limit number for the traditional world to enter the web3 community.

As for the future of Kng DAO, let us look forward to where Teacher Bei and Teacher Man Li will guide you.

Conclusion: We Forge Light with Proof of Presence

I wrote a long paragraph above to try my best to describe the details. I think there may be a demonstration role for the subsequent issuance of NFT by art and cultural institutions, or at least there is a precedent to follow. Of course, the point of view is easy to be one-sided or subjective. I still think Kng NFT is an off-topic, textured, and moving NFT project. Please feel free to correct me if there are any omissions.

Conceptually, this is a variant of POAP. POAP means Proof of Attendence Protocol, which means that you have participated in activities and can receive badges. The most well-known overseas case is POAP. xyz. Compared with POAP, the mechanism design of Kng NFT is more sincere, and the actual participation of collectors becomes part of the work itself (you can see the name of each participant in the floating box, which is the one they photographed). a photo). This kind of presence is like ouroboros, connected head to tail, you must participate in order to receive it, and you who receive it become a small part of the activities you have participated in, a part of the consensus, and even your voice. A simple comparison is like stamping the museum in different areas when I was a child; now the museum uses new media and technology to make the proof of participation more permanent. Evidence.

In terms of presentation, this is an interactive and sound three-dimensional point cloud work. This is a time-based work, and the three-dimensional composition of the particles can only be seen by rotating, zooming, and panning with the hands of the viewer, otherwise it is just a plane from the visual point of view.

In the sense of the times, this is a record for the exhibition, but from the perspective of the audience, this is the first time that "Nectar Dew" has reappeared to the public, and it is also a collection of enlightening works in the era of the Cultural Association. When you click on different Kng NFTs, you will find that the starting point is a different perspective, which is from the perspective of the audience, which is different from the traditional point cloud works with a global view. It is a collection of flesh and blood stares that condense.

Such meticulous NFT operations are not something that agents can do. It must be done by the official art museum, the curatorial production team, and those familiar with NFTs (in this case, FAB DAO plays this role). During the discussion, there are many ideas and directions that are difficult to implement. I still think it is a huge challenge to complete the NFT project with limited funds and time.

I am an optimist. So far, I think that there are still many possibilities for NFT, and there is still a lot of space to explore in the field of art and literature. It may be a ticket, an equity stake, the work itself, or an unofficial one. Meme carrier. At the same time, I also think that new types of web3 services have great potential for community and social progress, especially digital tools that apply radical market theory. Thanks to MoNTUE and the production team of Contemporary Echoes of Light for allowing me to participate, and to explore an NFT project that fits the exhibition so well from scratch in just a few months.

It is hoped that Formosa Art Bank can set sail slowly, explore more new ideas and practice them at the beginning of the web3 era, just like the predecessors of the Cultural Association a hundred years ago.
