Hong Kong people follow

Hong Kong's misfortune is a small part of the good fortune, because a large number of people have decided not to be Chinese in this life. Even if they can no longer stay in the city and settle down, the Hong Kong nation has taken shape, as if it has an independent life.

Huang Zihua has performed a total of 15 albums of neem laughter so far, and the most "politicized" is naturally the 1997 "Settlement Before Autumn". But in fact, in 1992's "Following and Going to the Border", the political content is definitely not low.

"Following and Going to the Border" is rarely talked about, and I think there are two main reasons:

  1. The title is too obscure, and it is not as straightforward as "The History of the Flesh and Blood of the Entertainment Circle", "The Erotic Family", "God of Wealth in the End Times", and "Settlement Before Autumn". In the first part of the performance, Huang Zihua was just exploring the emptiness of Hong Kong people's minds from the perspective of life. He often asked "follow the limit", looking for the show to fill the time, and only after the latter part did he try to be poor (more on this later).
  2. Although Huang Zihua has always liked to add philosophical thoughts to the show, but the philosophical flavor of this play is the strongest, and it is a bit high and low, while Huang's performance is relatively serious, and the funny expressions are deliberately reduced, which affects the entertainment.

Maybe because I am the same as Bruce Lee and Huang Zihua—sorry is not a Chinese—and both majors in philosophy, so I have a special aftertaste for "Following Lives and Going to the Edge". In the video version of "Follow", I saw 4 celebrities in the entertainment industry among the audience: Zheng Yuling, Wu Junru, Zhou Huajian and Zeng Jiang. I pay special attention to Zeng Jiang, because he is a high intellectual (when he was young, there were very few university students in the film industry), and I saw him show appreciation for Huang Zihua's performance.

This year (2022) marks the 30th anniversary of the performance of "Follow". I think it is very fitting to revisit it in the face of today's Hong Kong.

At the end of "Follow", Huang Zihua mentioned that the former pro-democracy member of the Legislative Council, Wu Mingqin, passed away due to illness, and Wu identified himself as a Chinese (now it must be regarded as the glue of Greater China), which made Huang Zihua rise to "doing China". people”, but can being a Chinese solve the problem of “following and going to the limit” (where do you go in life)?

The answer is no. Huang Zihua's metaphor of "glue" is a moment of speechlessness:

Chinese people point out that they need to invent a lot of knowledge about predicting fate (such as the number of spells and orders, looking at the pictures, supporting the scorpion, etc.)?
A person who is not full after eating very much is a person who is hard to be full.
Then, a nation that needs a lot of knowledge to predict its fate is a nation whose fate is unpredictable.

Then Huang Zihua started from the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, confirming that every time the dynasty was changed (from the Kuomintang to the Communist Party, from Mao Zedong to Deng Xiaoping), the Chinese all hoped that "this time will finally have a good life", but the result is always what they want. 30 years after "Follow", China's great power has risen, and even the ghosts believe that the 21st century is China's world. As a result, a Xi Jinping has once again reversed the good situation.

Therefore, Huang Zihua pointed out that when he was a Chinese person, he didn't know how to keep up. In other words, you must control your own destiny, and don't be a Chinese-Chinese person!

Hong Kong's misfortune is a small part of the good fortune, because a large number of people have decided not to be Chinese in this life. Even if they can no longer stay in the city and settle down, the Hong Kong nation has taken shape, as if it has an independent life.

No matter where Hong Kong people go, as long as there is democracy and freedom, they will be able to decide their own destiny. There is no need to ask: follow along?
