"Death's Precision": Death's visit makes people feel warm

Kotaro Isaka's "The Precision of Death" was adapted into the movie "Sweet Rain" starring Takeshi Kaneshiro. Each of the six short stories is wonderful in its own way. Although they are all about the death patrol, they always feel heart-warming after watching it.

Kotaro Isaka designed a very cute Death character in "Death's Accuracy". The protagonist Chiba is a member of the Death Group. He is responsible for investigating the designated person within seven days and deciding the life or death of the other person. Those who are determined to be dead by Death will die in accidents, while illness and suicide have nothing to do with Death. The Death Group also has a department dedicated to providing intelligence. When the Grim Reaper takes action, he often assumes different roles to facilitate contact with the subjects of investigation. The God of Death has no feeling about human life and death, so he will choose "acceptance" (death) most of the time. He only loves music in the world and often goes to record stores to listen to music while "working". During the investigation, Chiba approached the subjects of the investigation from time to time. Although he had no obligation, he often helped them. And because Chiba did not understand the world, he often made jokes.

Because there is such a lovely God of Death, even if he is rarely merciful, after watching one story after another about human beings getting along with the God of Death, I will never feel uncomfortable, but rather feel calm. After all, we are all mortal.

The six short stories are "Death's Accuracy", "Death and Fujita", "Death in the Blizzard", "Love and Death", "Death on the Road" and "Death vs. the Old Woman".

"The Accuracy of Death" is the first chapter of the book. In addition to introducing the work of Death, it also tells an interesting story. The subject of Death's investigation is an ordinary telephone operator. She lives in loneliness and has no attachment to life. Recently, she has been harassed by phone calls, which makes her extremely annoyed. She probably did not expect that this harassing phone call would change her life.

"Death and Fujita" is a gangster story. The subject of Death's investigation is a loyal boss. He was hunted down for saving people, but he decided to strike first. Even if he knew it was a scam, he couldn't do anything...

"Death in the Snowstorm" is a typical mystery novel. A group of characters were trapped in the hotel due to a snowstorm. The characters died one after another. Even the God of Death didn't know who the murderer was...

"Love and Death" has a hint of helplessness, because the subject of Death's investigation is falling in love, and it is still a love that has just sprouted and has not officially started. Can two people who are in love with each other persuade the God of Death to show mercy?

"Death on the Road" is like a road movie, because Death is kidnapped by a murderer and embarks on an escape journey. Of course, this murderer is the target of Death's investigation. The murderer was just a young man who had no regrets even though he killed people. He knew he couldn't escape the police's pursuit, but what exactly did he want to do at his destination?

"Death vs. Old Granny", as the end of the book, definitely plays a heart-warming role. The old woman whom Death wanted to investigate saw through Death's identity at a glance, and even asked Death to attract customers for her. It turned out that she did not want to relive the scenery of the past, but had another touching reason behind it.

I have only briefly introduced the content of each article here, but in fact each article has its own characteristics, different writing methods and feelings, and each has its own twists and touches, which is beautiful to read.

The God of Death is always in the habit of asking the people under investigation what they think of "death". Death can be without a reason, and even the God of Death can't figure out how the group selects targets, but living is not without a reason. Is a person's reason for living so strong that death will let him go?

Kotaro Isaka's novels often appear in corresponding characters, and they are not limited to the same book. The protagonist of "Gravity Clown" is suspected to appear here. The "Lush Life" I watched before also appeared characters from the previous work "Audubon's Prayer", so It would be more interesting to read his works in order.
