2021/07 Reading Summary

January's reading topic was the coercion incident, so I watched "White Rabbit" and "Defense That Can't Win."

The theme of reading in February is Weird Talk, so I watched "Chopsticks: Weird Talks and Performing Weird Stories" and "The Moment of the Goat's Smile".

The reading theme for March is the library, so I read "The Millennium Library" and "The Midnight Library".

April's reading theme was dystopian, so I watched "Saha Apartments" and "1984."

The theme of reading in May is to change the future, so I read "The Time Traveler's Hourglass" and "The Sad Future I Foretell".

My June reading theme was killing novelists, so I watched Till I Kill My Favorite Novelist and Room 4012.

The theme of reading in July is the definition of family, so I read "Assembling the Family", "Xiaoxue: The Conditions of Being Loved" and "Taking Over the Family".

"Family Takeover"

Author: Maiko Seto

Rating: ★★★★☆

Short comment: At first, I thought that "The Family" tells the story of a girl growing up in a different family. It must be a little sad, but in the end, there is no sadness at all, and the warmth is infinite.

Although the heroine has two mothers and three fathers, each parent also loves her and treats her as if she were her own, so the heroine will not feel sad when she is circulating among many parents.

The ending was so warm that my eyes were wet. How should I define family? Does blood really need to be related to be family?

There isn't a single villain in the whole book (although I don't think one's behavior can be forgiven), and the plot doesn't have any dramatic conflict, but it's still gripping, and it's a very nice novel.

"Assembled Family"

The setting is interesting and a very life-like novel. When raising children, there will always be problems big and small. Although there is no twist in the plot, it still makes one wonder what will happen next.

"Xiaoxue: The Conditions of Being Loved"

Short comment: I thought it was a tragic story of an orphan girl being constantly abandoned, but it turned out to be about parent-child relationship and education system.
