Change career must win, my foreign business interview memo 📕

(edited)
Excerpt from Podcast "Jennifer Talks a Lot" EP17

After the end of the year, it's time to change jobs!

This week's Podcast shared my experience of foreign business interviews and recorded EP17 . I am afraid that I am inarticulate, so I attach this key excerpt, emphasizing that it is not verbatim because I am a lazy pig hahahaha.

💡Applicable objects

  • Limited by my field of employment, the experience sharing focuses on customer service (Customer Service) and business/business development (Business Development) .
  • It is strongly recommended that friends who are interviewing foreign businessmen must not have poor foreign language skills . Otherwise, after joining the job, not only will they have to adapt to the corporate culture (the white one, it is difficult to guarantee no culture shock), but also learn a new job. burn.

🏹Interview process

The interview process is roughly divided into the following four stages . Each stage may be divided into multiple interviews due to factors such as time, talent hunting outsourcing, and company organization.

  • Telephone interview with HR: Review the interviewee's resume for authenticity .
  • Assessment (Assessment): Most of them are exam questions + application questions, focusing on job professional assessment and situational application questions . It is recommended to back up before submitting , and subsequent interviews may be extended from the application topic.
  • Interview with the head of the department: It is recommended that the head of the meat search department learn about the interviewer's preferences.
  • Interview with senior department/human resources executive: Be sure to know the latest news and company trends from the company's official website, Linkedin, Youtube and other media in the past 1-3 months.

It is recommended to send a thank you letter after the interview. You can refer to this article: How to write a thank you letter after an interview? When will it be sent? (Small note, the letter really shouldn’t be too long !)

🔍Prepare in advance

  • Watch JD (Job Description) 300 times . I try to understand every word as much as possible, and I can cite my own work experience for every requirement.
  • Practice the interview questions for the position on Glassdoor in both Chinese and English, at least 1-2 times.
  • Review your resume, prepare 1-2 stories for each column point, try to have both positive and negative , and try to have data . (Pay attention to the negative examples to prove that you have the ability to reflect and improve, don't really list your shortcomings .)
  • Familiarize yourself with the company's corporate goals and understand how the role you're applying for can help the company .

🎯 Answering skills

For example: Do you think you can be an Account Manger?

  • Since I had no AM work experience at the time of the interview, the interviewer obviously wanted a reason to convince him.
  • It is recommended to start with the common points of the two jobs. I started from the perspective of helping the company make money . The customer service I specialized in before was to help the company save money, and the AM I applied for was to help the company generate business, which is to increase revenue, which is essentially the same . And when I was working in customer service, I did a project that helped the company save 20% of the compensation for one year. (... Then I will talk about that project, briefly...) And when AM helps the company to pull business, it is necessary to listen to the needs of customers , which is a remarkable ability in my customer service experience, (... and then give another solution Major customer complaints, slightly...)
  • The summary re-emphasizes that, based on past experience , I am confident that I can be competent for AM.

✌Taiwanese and foreign businessmen

A good company is a good company, regardless of ancestry. (This really needs to be emphasized again and again, no foreign business is better!!! A good company is better!)
  • Among the Taiwanese businessmen I have worked with, good bosses are more like elders than supervisors. Although they are strict, they will leave good resources to you.
  • Foreign businessmen are more likely to package themselves, and the job vacancies seem to have good benefits, but applicants should measure for themselves and not be deceived by words (I have never been deceived myself).
  • Cultural differences are something that friends who want to enter foreign businessmen should pay attention to. Foreign businessmen are very particular about self-packaging and KPI management. E-mail wording, speeches and questions at meetings are all very important. In addition, if the KPIs are not up to standard, they should always prepare speeches and improvement plans. It doesn't matter if you like it or not.
