Atomic Habits: Empirical Laws That Small Changes Make Great Achievements, which has been on the bestseller list since its launch in 2018, provides some simple and easy-to-implement ways for people to build good from their lives. Habit, improve 1% every day, after a year, you will improve 37 times.

Although this book is written for adults, there are some methods in it that can be applied to children as well. For example, there is a chapter in the book that says "creating obvious visual cues" that can direct attention to desired habits It's like if we put snacks on the table, sometimes we don't necessarily want to eat them, but because we see them, we may be a little greedy, so we pick them up and eat them.

So, if we convert visual cues into reading habits, what should we do? My personal approach, if you want to cultivate the habit of reading before going to bed, you can put a book on the bedside table, before going to bed , I saw the book and it was easy to pick it up and read it. In the same way, parents and mothers can try to put a book beside the child's bed. If the child is interested in a better book, you can set the alarm clock for five minutes at the beginning. Start with a short-term trial, and after you develop a habit, you can Lengthen to ten minutes, fifteen minutes, etc.

Of course, it doesn't have to be the bedside. If there are other suitable places in the home, if you want to cultivate your child's reading habit, you can also try to put books in obvious places.

Use this visual prompt to create an environment that is easy for children to pick up and read books, and guide them to start developing the habit of reading.

I remember that when watching foreign movies, I often see a scene. Before the child goes to bed, the father and mother pick up a book and read and tell stories to the younger child. Such time belongs to the parent-child relationship. Intimate time, it can also become a habit, so if you are a younger child, maybe parents can try this too!

Change starts small. Use visual cues to create a reading environment for your child!
