Teacher Ajia: The elementary Greek class is here again, starting on March 17

Want to read the original text of the New Testament?

Want to apply to college, graduate school, and get a higher chance of admission?

bring it on! Let's start with learning elementary Greek!

A lot of readers have asked me if there will be another beginner Greek class. The good news is that the elementary Greek class will be here again from 8:00 to 10:00 pm on March 17th, please ask your friends to sign up in time. Dear readers are welcome to follow, forward and like, so that more people who are willing to learn Greek can come into contact with this course.

Some readers have also asked me if my primary Greek class is a New Testament Greek class. The author hereby unanimously answers that the purpose of this elementary Greek course is to read the New Testament at a preliminary level. If you want to further read Greek philosophy and the writings of the godfathers, you need to go to the level of intermediate Greek (beginner and advanced).

It usually takes three years to master an ancient language (i.e. six semesters, with an average of at least three hours of independent study per week (outside of class))

In the first year, understand basic grammar, recognize letters, change glyphs, and remember words

In the second year, read the original text directly and become more familiar with complex sentence patterns and grammatical details

In the third year, read manuscripts directly, inscriptions on inscriptions, and begin to learn to deal with original materials

The author designed the beginner Greek course to cover 80% of the grammar in the first year. The purpose is to get students familiar with verbs, adjectives, pronouns, declarative mood, subjunctive mood, wish mood, participles and infinitives in eight intensive sessions. Variations and basic syntax functions. Students who complete this course can slowly read the New Testament with the help of a dictionary, and can find some words he wants and their basic grammatical forms, such as number character, mood tense, etc.

In order to read and translate the works of the Greek godfathers, the author has been studying classical Greek for beginners since 2014. After going to the United States, he studied classical Greek to advanced courses at Harvard University, and translated "Eros Anthology", "Basil's Devotional Works", etc. It has been more than eight years.

This course will provide a solid foundation in Classical Greek and prepare the way for the next step in Intermediate Greek. If students are preparing to apply for liberal arts departments in European and American universities, they can not only add extra points when applying, but also skip the elementary Greek classes and study intermediate Greek courses when studying Greek at the university.

There are no exams in this course, but homework exercises are provided, and students are required to spend at least 30 minutes each day preparing for the after-school exercises to keep up with their progress.
