The purpose of this website is to provide an academic introduction to Eastern Church traditions.

The so-called academic introduction of the Eastern Church means that this site does not hold any missionary or conversion purpose, and only introduces the Eastern Church tradition from the perspective of primary documents and recent scholars' research. Therefore, the author's views do not necessarily represent any sect, and most of them are the interpretations obtained by the author studying these primary and secondary documents. Readers can choose to accept or reject according to their own sect and understanding, which is normal in academics.

Some people misunderstand me that this website is an introduction to the Orthodox Church, but it is not. The Orthodox Church represents only one branch of the Eastern Church. However, in view of the author's educational background, which is mainly Greek and Syrian church traditions, this website will invite more academic colleagues to participate in this ministry, and is willing to try to cultivate talents who are interested in Eastern churches. This is why the Areopagus School insists on offering language classes.

The author opened this website to provide a window of understanding and learning for the Chinese church and all those who are interested in the Eastern Church, to provide a new perspective, and to bring a new wind.

As the author shared with some students in a class, if the Chinese church repeatedly ignores the traditions of the Eastern church, there will be no future. May this light from the east also illuminate China.
