Community Activities|Taiwan Local Food Search|Taipei Food Notes of Beidrift Tainan People

(edited)
The following are food notes filled with very subjective comments from Tainan people who live in Taipei and often find food difficult. If you feel that Taipei's food is considered unpleasant, I can only say sorry to you Sended. It's true that Taipei is not that desert, and if you live long enough and are adventurous, you can still find quite a few oases. (Hey)

Speaking of food, when I went to look through the album, I found that some stores were silently closed or collapsed.

The impermanence of food reminds people sadly of the famous saying of the sorcerer Nanami in the manga "Curse Back to War":

"There's more hair falling out from the pillow, and the favorite sandwich bread has disappeared from the convenience store . It's the accumulation of these little despairs that make people grow."

The taste of growing up is the salty taste of tears.

On the other hand, I have heard other people describe Tainan people as: They are usually very gentle with each other, but when they comment on the food, they become cunning and arrogant .

Indeed it is. (Self-admission) Even if you scolded the people of Tainan and said, "Tainan is the capital of gourmet food, adding sugar to everything is unpalatable!" We will only reply arrogantly: "If it is bad, don't come here. To queue." (arrogant as hell www)

The food desert that is most often disliked by Tainan people is Taipei. The points of dislike are usually: eating depends on the decoration, the food is expensive and unpalatable, all dishes are only sprinkled with salt and thickened, and the clear soup does not need to be boiled with big bones.

However, this is usually a complaint that people who have just come to Taipei for a few years are more likely to complain about. If you have been drifting north for more than ten years like me, you will find that Taipei is probably better at various Chinese cuisines or exotic cuisines because there are more people from other provinces or international populations.

It's just Taiwanese snacks that somehow often go the whole bold ( just get it) route.

So, in Taipei, you need to find oyster fried rice, braised pork rice (the first time I saw the gray braised pork rice is in Taipei, amazing!), fried rice (not sticky rice with pork dry hey! It is rice cakes) .), pot roast pasta. Basically, they are asking for fish and asking for trouble.

Personally, I am both arrogant and lazy, so in principle, I don’t expect any harm from the southern snacks in Taipei. I go directly to the country and eat the dishes that Taipei is good at. (Everyone has their own strengths, don't force it)

(There is an exception to the oil rice: I found the oily rice with snow seeds under the big tree in the deep pit a while ago. The ingredients, taste and hardness are all correct! I was moved to tears!)

So, let me share with you, in Taipei, I think it is really delicious, and if it disappears, I should be very sad. I hope you will like it.

noodle soup

[Yongkang Street, Daan District] Chengji Vietnamese Noodle Restaurant: Stewed Beef Pho / Fresh Beef Pho

I quite like the Vietnamese beef pho. I order this dish whenever I get a chance, just to see if anyone can surpass Cheng Kee. It doesn't seem to be there yet. Chengji has several branches, including Yongji Road in Xinyi District and Qingcheng Street in Songshan District. The one I often go to is the one on Yongkang Street in Daan District.

Cheng Kee has two types of beef pho, one is the stewed beef pho, which is half gluten and half meat. The other is fresh beef pho, which is actually boiled with raw beef slices directly into the boiling soup. I eat the latter more often, but I often forget to take pictures because I am too greedy (sorry QQ) , so I asked the stewed beef pho to replace it.

Cheng Kee's soup is not only charming, but very magical. After drinking it once, it is haunted by dreams, which makes people wonder if there is a drug in it. The soup is so delicious that it is mind-blowing, paired with tender beef, crispy bean sprouts and shredded onions, and the smooth and unquestionable pho, it's not just a perfect match, it's incredible. If you like Vietnamese food but haven't tried Cheng Kee, I really recommend trying it out!

rice

[Yongji Road, Xinyi District] Roast Master Roast Meat Rice

Roast pork rice in Taipei, unless you go to eat all-you-can-eat Japanese-style barbecue, or it will be wet, wrapped in flour and mixed with shredded onions... It is called roast pork, but I don't know what it is actually called. cooking.

In Tainan, when it comes to barbecue rice, there is only BBQ pork slices grilled over charcoal fire. I like it so much, I go to eat it every time I go back to my hometown. (In addition to the well-known Yongle Roasted Pork Rice in Tainan, I also eat the Beijing Charcoal Roasted Pork Rice near my hometown)

And the sauce is very important. It needs to be sweet or salty. How can it be paired with rice if the taste is not heavy? Also, the rice should not be boiled soft and rotten , and the grains should be distinct, so that it will be delicious with barbecued meat.

In short, after trying for a long time, I finally found this small (few seats) roast pork rice in the alley, which finally met my expectations and nostalgia. Although I'm not sure if it's grilled on charcoal, but it's delicious and inexpensive, you can try it.

[Second 3, Heping East Road, Xinyi District] Xiangbin Roasted Meat: Crispy Roasted Pork Rice (Char Siew is also delicious)

Originally, I wanted to recommend the honey rib or char siew of Rui Rong Roast in the back door of National Taiwan University (and I had to choose the fat ones), but it closed not long ago. (heartbroken) So, I lost the champion of honey char siew in my heart, and it felt like I had one more year in my life.

I like Hong Kong-style char siu very much, but the char siu in Taipei is often not sweet. It tastes deadly salty, and the meat is very hard. Why not change its name to Salted BBQ Pork ?

OK, calm down, take a deep breath. Do it all over again.

Xiangbin Roasted Meat is considered to be a roast meat restaurant with medium-to-high standards for roasted pork, barbecued pork and roasted duck. (The oil chicken is relatively common, and I recommend Zhenglong City in Yonghe District.) Among them, the crispy roasted pork is the most powerful. In my mind, the Hong Kong-style roasted pork is the first. The skin is salty and crispy and the meat is tender, fat but not greasy, which will make people take a bite. super evil.

In addition, the barbecued pork is not bad, ranking second only to the passing Rui Rong. The meat is sweet and tender, and it is the best in a pile of salted barbecue pork.

pot

[Renai Road, Da'an District: Lao Dingwang Spicy Pot]
shoot
Oh oh oh!!!! Beef short ribs oil flower is super beautiful!
Simple but powerful ecstasy

I didn't eat spicy hot pot very much. But a friend was very keen on eating spicy pot, and he took me to several well-known spicy pot restaurants: Qinghuajiao, Ma La, Wending, Xindian. As a result, only Lao Ding Wang was the most impressive and would want to go again.

Lao Ding Wang is not as good as the common mala pot restaurant, there will be a lot of fancy self-service areas. On the contrary, it is very simple to put only a small freezer, and drinks are also used, as if you want to concentrate on the cooking in front of you, don't keep distracting to see desserts. This is very good, I like it very much.

Chicken feet is the signature dish in the store. It is so tender and delicious that it is worth a little bit. According to the number of people at the dinner party, I will give a small bowl of ecstasy noodles. I thought the appearance of the noodles seemed to be very ordinary, and I didn’t pay much attention to it, but eating it in one bite was really ecstasy, which made me want to go to order that noodles on weekdays. . (Unfortunately I live too far QQ)

The soup of the hot pot has the taste of traditional Chinese medicine, and is moderately spicy, which is spicy and smooth to drink. The beef is also very tender. Duck blood is also delicious, with the store's unique dipping sauce, after eating it, the fragrance is still unfinished. This may be the secret of its surpassing other spicy pot restaurants, right?

There are also branches in Songshou Road, Xinyi District, Siwei Road, Daan District, and Nanjing West Road, Zhongshan District. Those who are interested can go to eat and see.

sweets

[Hangzhou South Road, Daan District, Taipei City] Nanmen Market South Park: Bean Paste Rice Dumplings (southern rice dumplings are also delicious, actually)
This is what it looks like when you take it home and steam it. Everyone knows that you have to queue for the Dragon Boat Festival, but in fact, Nanyuan sells zongzi on weekdays.

When it comes to Nanyuan in Nanmen Market, most people will say, "Oh! Huzhou dumplings are delicious!". But for me, who is used to the rich ingredients of southern dumplings, the taste of Huzhou dumplings is a bit too monotonous. But bean paste dumplings are different, it's not simple.

I personally don't really like red beans. (!)

I don't like anything like red bean glutinous rice balls and wheel cakes. But only the bean paste dumplings in Nanyuan are unforgettable. I feel alive every time I eat. Sweet but not greasy, with a smooth texture, it is so delicious with soft sticky rice!

[Dunhua South Road, Da'an District] Jiyuan: Bean Casserole Cake

When it comes to Jiyuan, everyone will say: Chicken soup is amazing!

By chance, I was fortunate enough to accompany my grandfather, a high-ranking official in the late Qing Dynasty. There were not only various Chinese cuisine cooks at home, but also the late philosopher Mr. Lao Siguang, who once had a group of dessert cooks (true nobles), and went to eat a few times before he was born. Discover this amazing gadget.

Mr. Lao likes cakes very much, so Shangjiyuan usually orders sweet and savory cakes to eat. That was the first time I saw this bean casserole topped with white sesame seeds.

However, I'm sorry, because I'm going to dinner with the teacher, I'm embarrassed to say, "Wait a minute! Let me take a photo." So I didn't get the photo, so please go online and ask the god of Google. (But it's delicious, hard to write)

In short, after eating Jiyuan's bean casserole cake, I was completely dumbfounded: how could it be so delicious? The bean casserole cake just served, with crispy sesame-flavored skin and sweet but not greasy filling.

Later, I have eaten the bean casserole cakes from several other well-known restaurants, but none of them are as good as Jiyuan. Those who go to Jiyuan must try it.

The above is the Taipei food notes of Tainan people, and finally the line is completed! Thanks for watching! : DDD
