【Don't stop the child】#001 Don't stop the child from walking up the stairs

Children need to repeat a behavior or movement until they become proficient. This behavior or action is usually easy for us, but they see it as a challenge.

Children need to repeat a behavior or movement until they become proficient. This behavior or action is usually easy for us, but they see it as a challenge.

The main purpose of repetition is to practice, and each practice is to help them slowly master the trick of that behavior or movement.

Leaving the grandma's house and going home to take the light rail, there is a short flight of stairs on the side of the light rail station, with about 10 steps. While waiting for the car, one day my little daughter found this staircase. Since then, she liked to rush to this staircase. After going up the stairs, she would turn her head and go down the stairs. ?!), enjoy it. Every time she goes up or down the stairs, she will laugh happily, which is the joy of successful challenge!

At the beginning, my daughter's legs were not long and stable enough. When going up the stairs, her legs would tremble a little. When going down the stairs, it was even more thrilling. She seemed to fall forward as if she had slipped. As a parent, seeing this dangerous situation, it is natural to want to reach out and hold up your precious child so that they won't fall and suffer bloodshed, and so do I.

As soon as she stretched out her hand to hold her little daughter's hand, she was about to struggle. Although she didn't say it, her body language clearly expressed that she wanted to take the stairs by herself. After holding my little daughter steady on the first flight of stairs, I let go and let her try it herself.

Of course, letting go of your hands doesn't mean you don't need to protect the children, otherwise they will be hurt, and it's you who will be hurt, and it's you who will deal with the wounds. So, when she tried to go up the stairs, I put my hand on her back, she fell, and my arm, although not a strong arm, was still enough to hold my little daughter without hurting her. When my younger daughter came down the stairs, I put my hand in front of her, and when she fell, I hugged her. My daughter stubbornly wanted to practice like this. I didn't tell her that the car was coming and I wanted to go home. Then, I picked her up and walked to the platform to get on the train.

Dad and sister accompany little daughter down stairs

After many days of practice, and the little daughter's body has grown again, now we can drag her little hand and let her use her strength, and she can go up and down the stairs by herself.

Don't stop your child from repeating the action, even patiently accompany them to repeat the practice and help them learn until they master the behavior or movement proficiently.
