ZuSocial Decentralized Social Day Agenda Announced : Nov. 7th at Istanbul

Decentralized Social Day is an initiative by ZuSocial Hacker House, to unravel the potentials of the evolving social realm. It is a public event open to people with ZuConnect Pass, you can also join via livestream from anywhere in the world.

With terms like social media, social networks, and decentralized society floating around, it's easy to get lost in the jargon. The question is: what truly defines "decentralized social"? That's exactly why we are here to explore together.

Human connection is now almost inseparable with digital mediation. 70% percent of humans on this planet use the Internet, and every Internet user portrait is a social media user of some sort. These networks shape our daily emotions as well as geopolitical dynamics. But the current social media are not good references for the future. Centralization, business models, and particular mental models that we use in designing social media became attention-seeking systems triggering fear and anger.

However, hope glimmers on the horizon. The surge in blockchain and associated technologies has redefined how humans connect. Concepts like NFTs, SBTs, POAPs, DAOs, and innovative primitives for advertisements, reputation, and recommendation systems are revamping the very fabric of our social connections. But to what end? And is that the direction we should be headed in?

A Decentralized Social Day of Introspection and Forward Thinking

At the Decentralized Social Day, we invite attendees to reflect and brainstorm collaboratively. The event will kick off with panel discussions and lightning talks featuring three trailblazing panelists. We will zoom out first to explore the role of digital mediation in shaping human connections, and instances when it's best to simply disconnect and live in the moment.

As the day progresses, participants will delve deeper into the nuances of digital spaces, which are fast becoming the public spaces of our era. How to design reputation and trust in open networks? In addition, multiple decentralized social protocols and their use cases will be discussed. We are also questioning what technologists can do to fix a fractured web under wartime.
