Right-handed pitcher Trevor Bower (33), who was expelled from the Major League Baseball (MLB) on charges of sexual assault, expressed his hope to return, saying he could sign a contract even at the lowest salary.
Bower said on his social media on the 8th (Korean time), "If any team doesn't want to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to recruit an excellent pitcher, such as a Cy Young Award winner, they can sign with me. I can sign with the minimum salary." reported.
He added, “Please think of it as an option for teams that want to win but don’t want to spend a lot of money.”
Bower, the 2020 MLB National League Cy Young Award winner, was investigated by prosecutors on charges of assaulting a woman during sexual intercourse in 2021, and was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers, his team at the time, after being suspended for 194 games by MLB.
Bower, who was expelled, left the United States and signed a one-year contract with the Yokohama DeNA Baystars of the Japanese professional baseball team for 400 million yen (about 3.57 billion won) in 2023.
He became a free agent after appearing in 19 games last season and posting a record of 10 wins, 4 losses, and an ERA of 2.76.
Yokohama attempted to re-sign Bower, but he was put on a flight to the United States.
The MLB minimum salary for the 2024 season is $740,000 (about 980 million won). 고스톱
