Reflections on Writing #02 🔐 H Q&A aaa
Article permissions: trial reading
The thematic "Reflections on Writing" series is the first project launched by Reading Bigeng at the "Zhongshu Nervous System" in Wailuo in 2022. It records what you see, hear, think and gain about "reading and writing". What we have heard is also locked, marked with "🔒". Some articles are available for external (limited time) trial reading, marked with "🔐". The article is not long, but I want it to be updated and stable, have a point of view, and not be too high-minded. Every Monday, a perspective, a practical application.
■ H・Q・& A
The HQ&A approach I want to talk about today is a note-taking method in the Roam Untangled online course offered by @Jamie Miles . I think it is helpful for writing, especially the "thinking" aspect, which is in line with the reflective purpose of #writing .
It is formed by taking the prefixes of three English words, namely:
- Highlight
Underline the sentence . - Question
Reflect. If the underlined sentence is the "answer", what is its "question"? - Answer
Based on the "question" you came up with, give the "answer" in your own words.
The key is that the new set of questions and answers is reconstructed in "your own words." There is thinking and teaching (asking, answering, teaching yourself), so that the memory will be deep and become a part of you.
■ H・Q&A
At the end of the article , using Notion to realize "cross-platform" collection and line drawing , I want to break the HQ&A approach into two major parts to understand. Among them, H echoes note-taking, which is conscious selection and excerpting; while Q&A echoes note-making, which is connecting and resonating with one's own thoughts.
Then use the handy "Weapon (Recommend Save to Notion )" to properly save every HQ&A you have.
On the one hand, watching your "database" grow day by day is a kind of accumulation of visual feedback, rewards, and sense of accomplishment ; more importantly, it makes it easy to review it regularly at intervals , and to carve out memories again and become a part of you.
■ H・Q&A・aaa
To sum up the above, the idea is to proceed towards H → Q&A → again and again. The last two procedures help to deepen the thinking, turn "saw" into "see" something , and internalize it as my own. Please allow me to use "understanding" "Pond" to call it.
The deeper the pool, the easier it is to "see" new ideas that others have never seen, which is beneficial to writing. It is also the "high level of thinking" in " 11 Writing Lessons for Adults ":
When facing the same thing, others can see one point and you can see five points; others can see five points and you can see the connection between these five points; others can see the connection between these five points. You can also see the internal relationship between the five points of this thing and the three points of another thing. In this way, what you write will definitely be better. Even if your ability to choose words and form sentences is slightly weaker, your writing level will be better.
So I want to secretly insert the word aaa (opinion) into HQ&A, not only to summarize, but also to "see" creation and rumination.
Internalize it into yourself:
◍ Create in your own words.
◍ Use spaced repetition to eliminate rumination.
■ An explanation
At the end of the article, I quote the golden quote I "read" last week (Editor's note: "Love Is Not Ended": Classic French romance, nihilistic love ), seeking to "see" it through HQ&A.
You may wish to refer to "4W1H" to guide questions. The key word I chose is What - there is no absolute standard for the aesthetics of something ?
Many answers come to mind. In addition to the artistic creations mentioned in the original article (artworks vs. popular products, literary works vs. Internet articles), there are many answers, such as food, music, and appearance. To summarize further, I believe that in a democratic community, no one is qualified to define what standards are right when the values defended by individuals do not infringe on public interests .
I created a new "premise" using "my own words". If you look at it again after a while, you might come up with new ideas.
- Highlight
This is a democratic society, and no one has the right to dictate what the public’s aesthetics is. - Question
What things have no absolute standards for aesthetics? (Keyword What) - Answer
As long as the values defended by individuals do not infringe on public interests, in a democratic community, no one is qualified to define what standards are right. - again and again (aaa)
