Last Wednesday, "The Heart of the Heart" installed the e-book reading software, and also began to start reading favorite books in the vast sea of books. In just four days, I have already bought two books, and I really want to buy one, but I resisted the urge and told myself to read the books I had already purchased before buying it, so as not to lose control and cause "hardening of the purse strings".

Readmoo's Mooink e-book reading software is very user-friendly. So today I want to share my first experience of using this software. However, for the visually impaired, although this software solves the previous problem of too indirect and time-consuming reading for me, one of the very useful functions I can't use is the line drawing function, so I have to find a suitable The new note-taking software can not only make up for the needs of reading and taking notes, but also improve the knowledge content of your writing.

Mooink e-book reading software

Mooink of Dumo has an independent hardware e-book reader, which allows readers to completely leave their mobile phones for reading. But this reader has no voice assist function, and visually impaired users can only use it to listen to audiobooks. If there is no audiobook version of the book, the visually impaired will not be able to read it even if they have a reader. So, after searching the internet for relevant information, I gave up the idea of buying a hardware reader and decided to download their eBook reading app.

Readmo's e-book reading application interface is simple and clear, which is very suitable for visually impaired people. Several tabs at the bottom of the screen, such as "Buy Books", "Overview", "Bookcases", etc., are very convenient and easy to find. Books purchased or obtained for free will always be added to the "bookcase". If you want to read, just click on the bookcase and select the book.

In the "Buy Books" column, in addition to popular and recommended books, there are also free books! I currently have four books in my bookcase, two of which are free books. However, in my limited experience, free books are usually thinner and less knowledgeable. For example, one of the practice books I downloaded was relatively shallow and ordinary.

Reading books with the Mooink reading app is also very easy to operate. After clicking on the book, it will start reading from the beginning. If you want to skip to the chapter you want to read, you can press the button in the lower left corner to open the reader menu, and then click "Table of Contents". This application also has the function of manual page turning and automatic page turning, suitable for different times. For example, when reading a bedside book, you can choose to automatically turn the pages, so that the mobile phone will keep playing the book content until you fall asleep.

Obsidian note taking software

As mentioned above, the scribing function provided by the reader cannot be used by the visually impaired. I believe this is because this function relies on image expression and is difficult to support by voice screen reading software.

Because of the lack of the above, I decided to take another note to help myself write down the key points of reading. It's also not easy to find note-taking software for the visually impaired. A smooth note-taking software interface for visually impaired people needs to be concise, and there should be enough plain text descriptions so that visually impaired people can find the required function keys and correct edit boxes. By chance, when I was reading the Matt City article the day before yesterday, I saw a mention of Obsidian, which seemed to fit my needs. So I tried to download the Obsidian app from their official website. It really suits me very well.

The author of Matt City mentions Obsidian, emphasizing that it supports "card box note-taking". However, the note-taking method mentioned in the related article seems to me that the structure is more complicated. All I need for the time being is to jot down key points and sentences worth jotting down according to different topics, or inspirations from them. Therefore, for me, the two-tier structure of creating folders based on topics and creating notes in folders according to topics is enough for me for the time being.

One of Obsidian's strengths is the ability to create links between each related note. The method of establishing a link is very simple, without opening any menu, and then pressing this and that button a lot. Just write the words written in one note as keywords in the notes, and the system will automatically link two or more notes. When reading notes in the future, open one to see other notes linked to it. In my eyes, I think this is really powerful!

There should be more interesting things to discover

Whether it is Mooink or Obsidian, my experience is quite preliminary, and I know very little. I believe that there should be more interesting and fun things to discover in these two softwares.

As far as Mooink is concerned, I know that there is also a "delivery" function, which is to give away the books that I have purchased to others. This feature should be fun. Because when I buy more and more books, I don't know if there will be enough space, so I will give some of the books to those who want to read. In addition, if readers can form an online community for exchanging books, I believe it would be good!

As for Obsidian, what else do friends who use this software do other than take reading notes? My initial idea is to develop writing inspiration.
