[Matters 65] Zakynthos in Memories (6)
It was originally scheduled to visit the castle the day before , but I didn’t expect the restaurant to open a lot later than the original business hours, plus I was idling in the port area under the scorching sun before waiting for the meal, and I was lazy after the meal. The top was slippery and fruitless, and finally wandered aimlessly in the urban area of Zakynthos .
After packing our bags and checking into another homestay near Paralia Tsilivi Beach the next morning, we drove back to the castle. With a car, the speed is much faster, and the road to the castle from Paralia Tsiliv beach near the northeast is actually much smoother than the road to the top of the castle directly from the city of Zakynthos.
Conveniently behind the church is the parking lot. After we parked the car, we were greeted by several sea-view restaurants and souvenir shops. In addition to churches, this model of building sheds and opening restaurants near scenic spots reminds us of distant Taiwan again.
It was past eleven and the weather was hot, and we walked slowly from the church towards the castle, passing the Panoramic View of Bohali. The beautiful scenery took our breath away, and even just staring at it was very satisfying. Standing under the scorching sun to enjoy the beautiful scenery, or occasionally adjusting the aperture of the camera or the lens to take pictures slowly, a little bit of itinerary falls off every day, so on this day we have given up chasing the itinerary. Jing, it would be nice to have a chat together.
The beautiful trees in midsummer are lush, and the brick red roofs of downtown Zakynthos below are cute and lovely, the blue water reflects the distant mountains, the mountains are blue-green, and everything in front of you is like a dream.
We continued to climb the slope. Although there were many cars parked on the side of the road, there were no tourists. The road that is not wide is extremely quiet, with only the occasional melodious sound of cicadas.
Following the positioning of Google Maps, we are getting closer and closer to the castle.
Passing through the houses on both sides and walking about 100 meters, you can see the city gate.
After entering the city gate, you will pass through the ticket booth, and you need to buy a ticket to enter the venue. Student tickets cost 4 euros each.
After checking out, you will get a beautiful ticket and a brief introduction to the castle.
The finished Greek is very beautiful, but I can't understand a word!
Through the introduction, I know that Zakynthos has changed hands many times in history, from the Turks in the Byzantine period, to the Venetians in the Middle Ages, and even the British later. And this castle (wreck) was named "Bóchali Venetian Castle" after the Venetians captured Zakynthos and consolidated the city.
However, it was too hot to ignore the story about this castle at all. After buying the tickets, we continued to walk into the huge park under the sun.
There are not many ruins in the entire castle now, but the dense pine forest impressed me deeply.
Although there are many ruins marked on the map, but looking around, it is full of vegetation.
The park is very big, but when we first entered the park, we couldn't find our way for a while. You can only slide along the grooves that are suspected to be roads and covered with pine needles.
After walking uphill for a while, I found that something was not right. Why didn't I see any ruins? When we turned around, we found that there was a stone wall in the distance, so we turned back and walked in the direction of the stone wall.
It's a prison only after getting close to the stone wall...
And not just one.
However, after the remains of the prison, we find battlements and a fortress for scouting the enemy.
Once on the fortress, it really is a good position to observe the enemy's situation.
The seaside situation is unobstructed.
It's so beautiful, let me put another one.
At twelve o'clock in the afternoon, standing on the unshaded fortress and being baked by the scorching sun, although we were attracted by the scenery outside the fortress, we only stayed for a while, then went back to the shade under the tree to rest and drink some water.
However, when I saw passengers walking down the battlements, I happily carried my camera and walked up the remains of the battlements. At that time, I didn't realize that my husband was actually feeling unwell...
At that time, I said I was going to the battlements, but my husband only said that he still wanted to rest under the tree. Later, he realized that the weather was too hot, and he seemed to be suffering from heat stroke.
I stood on the battlements, looked around for a while, and finally took a few pictures, and hurried back to my husband.
After getting off the battlements, I also found the remains of the cannon, I quickly took a picture, and then returned to the embrace of the shade of the tree.
The husband under the tree looked dizzy, so I quickly put a wet tissue on his forehead to help him cool off. Although we only discovered the day before that evening outing is king, but we wanted to stay near Paralia Tsilivi beach or in a B&B that afternoon, so we went out at noon...
When my husband was finally able to walk, we decided to give up the rest of the castle, find something to drink, and then go back to the B&B to rest in the afternoon before going to the beach.
Although I was a little reluctant to leave this beautiful pine forest, and frankly speaking, it was quite comfortable to sit in the shade, but since there was not much water left to bring into the garden, the next time my husband was less dizzy, we walked slowly to the city go outside.
However, before I left, I told my husband to walk out slowly, and ran to the other side of the battlement to take some pictures.
Covetousness attacks, and even the overgrown scenery is beautiful.
Sometimes I really don't know what I'm obsessing about. Maybe it's the beautiful scenery here, or the fragrance of the pine trees. At many moments in life, I accidentally start recording, but no matter how I record, in fact, everything will eventually disappear.
The word Decadent jumped into my mind again, and the meaningless pursuit and efforts may have proved that I was living a decadent life solidly.
What is the meaning and purpose of life? When trying to meet the standards defined in society, it is often forgotten that the essence of life is a senseless feast (Picking the title of Milan Kundera's novel, which has also been translated as "Celebration of Meaninglessness") In this feast , am I constantly losing myself? I don't know, I just feel anxious and alienated when trying to meet those standards, but I don't have the courage to make up my mind when I'm trying to isolate myself from the world.
I have to admit that in my whole life, in addition to asking for a clear conscience, I am asking for peace of mind. However, body and life are just proof that death is inevitable.
Nothingness strikes.
Although whenever I feel empty, I always think of Heidegger's "to live to the death" in the hope of being positive. However, when I think of a certain land passing through a generation after another, enjoying a certain time and space, prosperity or depression, Joy or sadness is nothing but a mirror.
But back to reality, although I was decadent, nostalgic, and eager to record the scenery on the mountain, I ended up ordering a drink at Movida with my exhausted husband, and then driving back to Paralia Tsilivi after a little energy.
We stayed at Movida for nearly an hour, and as the drinks gradually filled my husband's stomach, he finally had the strength to speak.
From time to time, there is no such relaxed chat. Although it is a small talk (Gerede, idle talk), it has no special meaning and is only superficial. However, let's spend this time in a vain way.
After returning to the homestay, after taking a shower, I lay lazily in bed reading a book, while my husband slept soundly.
When he woke up we went to Paralia Tsilivi beach as planned. This beach is not far from the B&B, and it is a sandy beach rather than a rocky beach, so we each carried a bottle of bartending, and opened it up to drink when we reached the beach.
The beach with soft sand is very suitable for development. After arriving at the beach, only to find that the beach is full of lounge chairs, and not far from the high tide line, there are coastal restaurants.
We found a piece of sand to sit down (in fact, those reclining chairs are available for people, but we just wanted to sit on the ground.) Listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, the cool wind was blowing, and the alcohol inexplicably made the sight and senses clear.
"Hey, you're blushing," said her husband. I blush every time I drink, no matter how low the alcohol level is.
"I'm going to step on the water." I walked to the beach and felt the warm water pat my feet. And that day passed in a blur.
