• How do I register and log into Matters?

Matters supports two registration and login methods: using email or encrypted wallet. For details, please refer to Matters Encryption Wallet Guide .

If you are already a Matters user, you can choose to log in with your email address and password, and at the same time bind your account with your encrypted wallet, so that you can participate in Matters' Web3 experiments more easily in the future.

Friends who have not registered Matters can register through encrypted wallets. When entering Matters in the future, encrypted wallets will be the only way to log in. Wallet registration currently supports two methods, MetaMask and WalletConnect.

• Can I change my Matters ID?

Each user has an exclusive Matters ID. If you want to modify it, go to "My" --> "Settings", find "Matters ID", and click to modify it. Note that currently IDs can only be edited once, so use with caution.

• Who are the authors of Matters? How do I find authors I'm interested in?

Authors of Matters come from all over the world, writing in a variety of subjects and styles. You can see all authors in "All Authors" , and enter their creative space station to read articles. In addition to the list of authors, you can also find outstanding authors recommended by the community in #我的私定author list .

When you meet a favorite author, be sure to press the "Follow" button. The next time the author publishes a new article, the "Follow" column on the left side of the website homepage will be displayed, so that you will not miss any work!

• How do I find articles of interest to me on Matters?

Matters has a wide range of topics. You can find more topics you are interested in in "All Tags" and track these tags. When these topics are updated, they will automatically appear in your "following" column. For information on how to use tags, refer to the Matters Tags Guide .

• How do I support a favorite author on Matters.Town?

You can use the support functions developed by Matters. At the end of each article, there is a "Support the Author" button. You can use USDT, HKD or LikeCoin to encourage the author. The operation process is very simple and allows the author to obtain substantial creative income.

Matters also supports the payment function of USDT (Polygon). As long as the wallet is bound, USDT can be used to support the author or receive support from others. • What is Appreciation and Clapping? How to use the appreciation button?

Since October 2019, Matters and LikeCoin have joined forces to introduce LikeCoin, a cryptocurrency that is measured by the author's creativity, into Matters, allowing creators to truly own content and obtain substantial feedback.

Now, every Matters article has an embeded likes button automatically, no additional installation required by the author. Every registered Matters user can use the Appreciation button to clap up to five times, and the claps are irrevocable . Each of your "likes" will be converted into the author's income, so please clap your hands for your favorite works.

Matters users need a set of Liker IDs to clap. When registering, you can choose to let Matters automatically generate a Liker ID for you, or, if you already have a set of Liker IDs, you can also directly bind with a Matters ID. Please note that once a Liker ID is generated or bound by Matters, it cannot be modified or unbound . • Can I just sign up for Matters without generating or binding a Liker ID?

Can. But please note that if you don't set a Liker ID, your value marker tool on the Matters site will not be enabled, and you will not be able to publish new articles and give appreciation. If you are an old user who holds MAT, you cannot manage or withdraw the LikeCoin converted from MAT and accumulated from old works. But you can still use Matters to read and comment, and your old work will continue to be admired.

• I clap for the author, do I need to pay?

If you are a free Liker (every Matters user who is bound to a Liker ID is a free Liker), you can clap your hands to support the author without paying any cost.

If you want to join "Appreciate Citizens", Appreciate Citizens has been revised to "Appreciate Citizens Web3" in March 2022. Use a wallet linked to a Liker ID to entrust at least 5,000 LIKE to the "Appreciate Citizens" node to obtain Appreciate Citizenship. • How much LikeCoin is a clap worth? Why is a clap of appreciative citizens more valuable?

Creators get feedback from two parts: In addition to appreciating citizens’ entrusted returns, there is also a “creation fund” reward.
The creation fund comes from the LikeCoin community pool, and the amount refers to the sum of the entrusted rewards of the appreciating citizen nodes, and is apportioned according to the total Likes of the appreciating citizens, and is given back to creators. The larger the amount entrusted to the appreciative citizen node, the greater the influence on the creation fund. The Creation Fund will be distributed at about 12:00 GMT+8 every day.
Free Liker likes can also allow authors to receive a small amount of creative funding.

• What is Super Like?

Super Like is an opportunity for appreciative citizens to help good articles get more exposure. As long as you are an appreciative citizen, you will have two chances of Super Like every day (updated at 0:00 and 12:00). After five times of clapping on an article, the sixth one will be Super Like. Articles that get Super Like will appear on Liker Land and get more exposure opportunities.

Authors can't applaud their articles, but they can give Super Like to their articles.

• What is an IPFS node? What is it for?

IPFS is a distributed storage technology selected by Matters. Every content published on Matters, including text, pictures, and links, will be uploaded to IPFS, but comments below the article will not be uploaded. The storage fee charged by IPFS is currently borne by Matters, and will be paid in a certain proportion of the appreciation won by the content publisher in the future.

The public node is the storage address of a work in the IPFS network, which can be regarded as a copy of the article. If readers cannot directly visit the Matters website due to various reasons, the author can copy the public node of the article and spread the content. If you want to query the public node of an article, "Distributed Entry" will be displayed next to the title of the article, and you can find the node address by clicking on it. Or you can use the query tool developed by user Deserve .

• Does Matters have an app? I want to use Matters on my phone, how do I do it?

Matters currently does not have an app, but you can use the PWA function to achieve almost the same effect as the app. PWA refers to Progressive Web App, which is a function of packaging a website into an App, which can occupy an icon position on your mobile phone screen, and the operation is very similar to a general App. For details, please refer to the Matters App Download (PWA) guide .

• Can I read Matters articles using RSS?

Yes, Matters supports RSS, JSON readers, or IPNS-compatible Planet readers to subscribe authors. For specific subscription methods, please refer to the Matters Content Subscription User Guide .

• I use the Tor browser but cannot log in to the Matters website, what should I do?

• Matters articles have traditional and simplified Chinese, I am not used to reading, is there any way to convert fonts?

We currently provide three interface languages: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese and English. You can find "Interface Language" from "My" --> "Settings" and modify it.

Matters users span across the Taiwan Strait, four regions and regions around the world that use Chinese, so there will be articles in both traditional and simplified characters. If you are not used to a specific font, you can find the "Translate" button under the title of the article, and press it to convert between traditional and simplified.

• Why can't I leave a comment under someone else's article?

After registering as a Matters user, you can publish articles on the site. When your work accumulates more than 5 appreciations, or you have read more than 10 articles on the site, you can interact with other authors by leaving messages.

Another situation is that if a user blocks you, you cannot leave a comment under his article.

• What can I do if I don't want specific users to speak under my articles?

You can block this user, after blocking, he will not be able to leave a message under your article. If you want to block this user's site-wide speech, you can use the site-wide block tool developed by user Deserve.

• I want to get in touch with an author, does Matters have a private message function?

Matters currently does not have a private message function, you can directly leave the contact information you think is safe under the comment area of the author's article. Please note that Matters' articles and comment areas are all public, and any personal information you leave may be seen by others.

• What if I see hateful, pornographic, or advocacy of violence in the community?

Matters launched the community self-government system in 2019. Through community consensus, it regulates several kinds of speech that should not happen, including hatred and advocacy of violence. If you see such remarks, you can tag Matty (ID: hi176) or leave a message in this article to inform the site, and the site will deal with or punish accordingly.

If you think a user's speech is controversial, you can also initiate a lawsuit and ask the community to vote , and the community will decide whether to freeze or ban the speech user.

• Matters are fun! Any other interesting tools or ways to play?

Matters users often develop interesting new ways to play, and you can see tools developed by users for free in "Matties Homemade Toolbox" .

For example, user Vibert Thio created a third-party website that can be used to back up his own Matters articles. MatREQ is a peripheral website developed by user Jiugu .
