187. When you believe what you are going to be, it really will come true
Changing habits is so difficult because we are doing it the wrong way, and the things we are trying to change are wrong. Look at the attached diagram to see three levels of behavioral change:
The result is about what you get, the process is about what you do, and the identity is about what you believe, so if you want to start to succeed, you must start believing that you will succeed, and don’t smell like a snake before you try.
The problem is not about which level is better or worse, but about the direction of change. We usually want to change in the direction of "results", but this is the outermost circle. We should have a core idea (identity), so that to keep us going for a long time.
We often aim to make how much money we make, instead of me being a successful person, we should make changes based on "identity" to last for a long time!
Behind every action (system) there is a belief, the focus is on what we believe, and behind the action is an identity.
If you just write on the New Year's New Hope that you want to be healthier and richer, but you still prefer to lie on the sofa and browse the Internet, then you have not changed who you think you are, so I believe it. At the end of the year you are still lying there.
First convince yourself of who you are, instead of "wanting" who you are. The real change in behavior (system) is to rely on the change of identity!
- The goal is not to read a book, but to become a reader
- The goal is not to make big money, but to master the equation of financial freedom
- The goal is not to write viral posts, but to be a part of changing the world
