Atypical bookworm: read by ear, ask Mr. Siri to surf the sea of books with me
After Xiaoyu entered the chaos, dyslexia made me have to start a big rest life
During the time when I just confirmed that I was disturbed by Xiaoyu, I still tried to maintain my original job and life. It should last for about half a year.
until one afternoon,
I stared at the computer screen, and back and forth in those few lines, I found that I can no longer understand any content in the document. What I have always been best at is collecting information, absorbing and digesting it, and then telling others in my own vernacular. I need to read a lot every day. Documents do the unification work, that is, the so-called large-scale input, large-scale output person
I don't know how to describe that feeling of frustration, all I know is,
At that moment, I realized that I really couldn't take it any longer.

When a large number of readers become dyslexic
About dyslexia, it wasn't until after regular treatment for a period of time that I discussed with the doctor that it was a cognitive impairment caused by Xiaoyu. In other words, Xiaoyu caused partial brain function loss.
In addition to major emotional disorders, cognitive impairment is also a common symptom among patients. In my personal situation, not only reading, but also speaking and writing are significantly affected. It takes a lot more effort than before to speak a whole sentence. I can only speak slowly with two or three words. Even if I can speak a whole sentence at a time, the speed of speech is much slower than before. I can record this podcast and the symptoms have been greatly improved. When editing the editing, some pauses are really too long. also cut a little
Friends who have known me for a long time will tell me that after hearing my voice on the show, it is much different from what they remembered, and they always feel that it is strange, even though this is the closest I can do now, and it is the closest to "very good". the voice of the spirit
In terms of writing, I am currently reading while typing and typing and typing on the keyboard. As before, I can type blindly. It is relatively simple to handwrite. It is relatively laborious. I feel that the pen is difficult to control. It turns out that it becomes different. Sometimes the words you write will not be recognized by yourself. It feels like a bunch of twisted lines.
Now I can read line by line. If it's a paragraph with a large block of words crowded together, I can't read it. That is to say, the books I can really read with my eyes are almost comic or picture book type.

Recognize that "reading with the eyes" is not for granted
It wasn't until Xiaoyu entered that I realized that reading is a series of very complex information processing processes. First, sight and touch are required, and then the brain recognizes words and then goes through the process of personal thinking or imagination. This is a series of very complex brain activities that require a lot of learning. , practice, not so natural
After I discovered my dyslexia, reading paper books became a very difficult thing. So far, pure text reading can last about 15-60 minutes, depending on the current power status, and the brain-burning degree of the text content.
When the power is exhausted, I will be dizzy, unable to maintain my concentration, or even lose power, just like the phone battery is too low and the power is forced to shut down, it looks like I fell asleep directly, but the client's chicken cake is under, I don't know that I fell asleep until I wake up Only then did I realize that "it seems like the power has just been cut off"
No feeling of falling asleep, full sleep, no time passing just closing and opening eyes
In the words of my friend's analogy:
"It's like closing your eyes and entering a different dimension, opening your eyes and returning to the pill."
I have asked doctors and psychologists that this power outage is similar to the forced shutdown of the mobile phone that I just said, and it is more like a protection mechanism. It’s just that ordinary people will yawn when they are tired, feel sleepy, and then go to rest or sleep, and I am the feeling in front No, skip to the last step: sleep

Amazon has a robot Alexa that can read text aloud, and Audible audiobooks that are read aloud by real people
Amazon's TTS (text-to-speech) Alexa has been around for years
Audible audiobooks sometimes have Kindle+Audible versions. The concept of buying an ebook + audiobook bundle is cheaper than buying an ebook alone. The best thing is that the reading progress can be synchronized across devices. This kind of set book can be used for some paragraphs. The reading experience of reading and listening to some passages is probably only available on Amazon.
The audiobook market is just starting in Taiwan. Personally, I think this is a very potential market. In the absence of words, readers can experience the situation in the book by sound. Different types of books are science fiction, thriller, biography, and fairy tale. The story, etc. will require a different voice representation
The audiobook itself is a professional performance <br class="smart">There are many star-level readers abroad. Legend has it that some big-name writers will also appoint some readers to read their own works, and some are authors or specially invited well-known actors. read aloud

Exploring machine voice to read e-books: Mr. Siri
Take it for granted that the ear can't be read with the ear except for the human flesh reading machine aka the bedside stories of my parents when I was a child.
If the e-book is streaming, you can use the machine voice to read aloud on mobile phones, tablets, and computers. Except for the familiar Miss Google and Miss Siri, I highly recommend Mr. Siri.
Yes~~ You heard it right, you read it right, it's Mr. siri
Siri's voice library has a lot of choices, you can go to the settings menu to choose the reading voice of each language
Mr. siri can read aloud a little more naturally than Ms. siri,
It doesn't feel so blunt, so machine, so most of my current e-books are in the mobile phone or tablet app and ask Mr. siri to read aloud. Except for Taiwanese Chinese, the common foreign languages of translation books are Japanese, French, Spanish, and German. I have already Sir please stay here
There are also useful extensions for the browser
If I read a long text on a computer webpage, I use the Firefox browser (after stepping into the blockchain ecosystem, Chrome, Sidekick and Brave will use XD interchangeably)
One expansion kit can be installed:
Read Alone: Text-to-speech reading assistant, currently supports 40 languages [ Chrome ] [ Firefox ]
Supports more than 40 languages, is a mid-low female voice, sounds really comfortable
Podcast Voiceover Artifact
Using this website, after entering the text, the .mp3 audio file is directly generated to be used as the narration or correction information of the Podcast,
With vocals and appropriate sound effects, the variety show is full of effects
Be kind to your ears, if hearing loss is gone forever
Sound quality and timbre are important factors that affect the listening experience. In addition to the built-in speakers of the device, if I use the Bluetooth speakers to listen to it in my room, I can even take a shower. Over-the-ear headphones are my favorite choice. There is a feeling that the voice of speech is directly poured into the ears. If I ride a small fold on the road or ride a motorcycle, I will use bone conduction headphones. These headphones are a kind of sports headphones that hang on the ears for two. The end sound source is pressed against the temporal bone in front of the ear by the elasticity of the arc structure, so the ear canal will not be blocked and the sound of the outside environment can still be heard, avoiding the danger of driving
In addition, the very popular true wireless earbuds I usually don’t use so much. Probably I listen to audiobooks or light music before going to bed when I go out for the night. Because I have sleep disorders after getting sick, I can’t sleep well and listen to it. When I fall asleep, it happens to have the function of earplugs. After trying it a few times, I can sleep well. I wake up and put it back in the box to charge it. It's a concept of using it as earplugs that can make sounds.
Eyes can be closed, ears cannot be closed
Because of making podcasts, I met friends who work in non-profit organizations that help visually impaired friends chat and communicate, only to find that the audio reading method I explored is exactly the same as their method of assisting blind people.
For me, it is the same as acquiring knowledge content, but different forms of e-books and audiobooks make my reading situation more liberating. There are no restrictions on space, and time can be fragmented. It is no longer limited to indoors, reading in my seat, commuting, moving, and going out. Walking, waiting time in line, etc. Eyes are no longer staring at the screen, and the power consumption is much lower, which can make more time for spirits
The skills Xiaoyu taught me
If I can do it all over again, I don't want to be Li Bai, and I don't want to be confused by Xiaoyu, but I think one day in the future, when I look back, I will be grateful to Xiaoyu for bringing me this gift, not at this time, at some point, maybe there will be such a day. la~~
