"Because, maybe this is the only job that pays well and gives me peace of mind?"

Happy time flies so fast, there are only three days left in the blink of an eye.

January 3rd is Friday, and Xiao Nizi hates the resumption of classes on Friday. Even after the weekend, the weekend after the resumption of classes, the Holiday mood was less than half. However, teachers have explained that this arrangement is to make good use of the holiday quota for the entire school year - if Friday is still a holiday, Saturday and Sunday will be counted in the number of holiday days.

"Friday's timetable for examination papers is posted at the entrance of the auditorium, have you read it?" Mandy said as she danced her needle.

"I read it a long time ago, didn't it post it after the Chinese Orchestra practiced last Friday?" Emily said.

"On Friday, it seems that the main subjects (Chinese and English mathematics) and all the science subjects (Phy Chem Bio) were sent back in one go. You don't have to wait for the liberal arts subjects next week. You should know who will be the first place this year." Tina said with a smile, Miaomiao and Xuan Lan who drew the last unfinished set board with her.

Xuan Lan's expression was focused when she painted, but in fact, she had been listening to their conversation. The four girls suddenly became silent, Xuan Lan turned to look, and found that they were all looking at him with a smile.

"Jacky, what do you think?" Is it you or Rebecca? Emily asked curiously. Of course, such remarks are only possible when He Huiwen is not around.

"...If there's something you don't think about, you'll know when you send a volume."

"You see Jacky doesn't care at all, this is the style of a king." Annie joked, grinning revealing a row of metal braces.

"Actually, it's good for you and Rebecca to be next to each other. You can learn from each other's strengths."

After Mandy finished speaking, he was besieged by three other companions: "Where is Jacky's "short"! Geogra (geography) History is three or four points lower than Rebecca and called "short", so what are you?!"

Hearing this, Xuan Lan couldn't help but laugh. Her eyes returned to the brush, and she said casually: "I also want to, but it's not that you don't know how busy Rebecca is..."

This sentence petrified Mandy and Annie for 0.5 seconds.

Except for the two of them, the rest of them were not in the same class as He Huiwen last year, and the people who had been next to He Huiwen had a lot of negative comments about her. Feelings, even calling her a "Jiaojing" or something. These rumors, even hearsay, will inevitably destroy He Huiwen's image.

Annie was about to turn the subject to the matter of choosing a subject, but Mandy said straightforwardly, "Jacky, it seems you like Rebecca quite a bit."

At the same time, Xuan Lan choked on his own saliva, and his face flushed from coughing behind the crowd.

"Mandy, you used a typo, it's called 'sympathy for each other'." Tina corrected, only to find Xuan Lan gasping for breath: "Jacky, are you alright?"

"It's just choking, it doesn't get in the way..."

If there were other students present, this scene would definitely make a big story. It can only be said that the friends Tina found are not good people to talk about.

This is called clustering.

"It's done!" Emily cut off the thread tied to the needle. "My costume is done."

"What are you arrogant about? Jacky helped you a lot after I saw you go yesterday." Tina said, "Come here to help sew Jacky."

Just as Emily picked up the unfinished battle suit of Overlord, He Huiwen pushed open the door and came in: "Hey, is the progress okay?"

When Xuan Lan heard the sound, she turned her head and met He Huiwen's eyes. She saw He Huiwen smiled slightly at her, then turned around and took off her coat and put it on the empty chair next to Mandy.

not in the empty chair next to yourself.

In her heart, there was a trace of apprehension that deviates from rationality - what does He Huiwen think of me now - she knows that it is pointless to think about it, and it is also pointless to regret it, but the feeling of suffocation in the air is particularly uncomfortable.

She didn't turn her head to look at He Huiwen.

"It's alright, Emily sewed her costumes, she's working on Jacky's, and the rest of the costumes are messed up, too," Tina said.

"Hey, Emily..." He Huiwen asked a little embarrassedly: "That... I almost finished Jacky's costume last night, why don't you leave it to me to finish it, okay?"

"..." Emily glared at He Huiwen, as if asking her "Can't you trust me?" Seeing that no one else could help, she said helplessly, "Hey, well, it's better for the king's clothes to be sewn by his women."

He Huiwen and Tina listened and laughed tacitly.

"Why don't you help me get Yu Ji's sleeves, one person on the other." Mandy said.

"Trouble you guys." He Huiwen smiled and said, "What were you talking about just now?"

"Jacky said that you are often absent, and it's impossible to ask you to teach her homework." Tina knew that the two of them were in a good relationship, so she just took it as a joke.

Everyone else was sweating when they heard it—in the eyes of others, this pair of neighbors fought to the death every year...

"What? Are you serious?" He Huiwen laughed softly: "Haha, Tina, don't make me happy, she wants me to teach her homework? How is that possible!"

Xuan Lan couldn't help putting down her paintbrush and turned her head: "It's true, you're often not around. I want to ask you about English Eng Lit, too." She pursed her lips and stared stubbornly at He Huiwen, who was still the same. He giggled, his eyes full of provocation.

However, provocation is only a signal received by others.

"No kidding man. You don't even give a shit." is the message Xuan Lan received.

This is the secret between the two of them.

Xuan Lan was betting on whether she would say it.

"Okay, if Jacky is willing to help me with math and science, I'll do it!"

"Absolutely willing to accompany you." Xuan Lan coldly returned his gaze to the painting, secretly relieved.

The others were horrified by the unintelligible conversation, and blamed Tina for her nonsense with their eyes.

"Rebecca, are you planning to take science too?" Annie changed the subject.

"Probably not. I'm pretty sure that I won't be interested in any mathematics department in the future, how about you?" He Huiwen asked curiously.

Others were at a loss for words again—in Jieling, the consideration of selecting subjects in Form 4 has never been to ensure that there will be more choices for college selection departments in the future?

To put it simply, not only those who are interested in science, but also those who have not decided what they want to do in the future, tend to choose science. Because, for those who will take the science course, they can transfer to the liberal arts department at the university, but if there is no repair course at the time of the exam, the university cannot choose the science department. This is also the reason why the Class 1.5 science class, which has almost gone straight to Form Four, has been in the top three classes for many years.

In addition, there is also a less obvious reason - a sister from the science class, who has an additional history subject in the exam, shared that the marking scheme of the science exam is relatively easy to master, but the mode of the liberal arts assessment (writing essay) has many variables. It seems that the chances of taking the former to be top-notch (take 6A or above, you can skip A-level and go directly to university) seem to be higher. Over the years, the ratio of top-notch students in arts and sciences classes is indeed quite different, perhaps 1:7 or 1:8. However, whether the causal relationship is "it's easier to get good grades in science subjects" or "students with good backgrounds generally choose science subjects, so students with good grades in the end are all in the science class", it is unknown.

"I haven't made up my mind yet. I don't know whether I should choose literature and business (four liberal arts plus two business courses in accounting and economics) or science, although I will miss translation or English literature in the future." Annie confessed.

"Where's Mandy?"

"I guess I will choose science and accounting, and the university should choose business."

"I didn't think about what to study in college, but I think science is much more interesting than liberal arts, so there is no doubt that I will choose science." Emily answered without waiting for anyone to ask.

"Rebecca, you haven't said what you miss in college." Tina smiled, "Shouldn't the person who asks answer it first?"

"Law? Or Politics? Actually, I didn't think about it. Anyway, it's not science, right?" He Huiwen said.

"Law? I also want to study law, but I will definitely choose science. With my essay writing skills, if I study liberal arts, I may not get an A."

"Tina, don't belittle yourself."

Xuan Lan listened while drawing beside her. He Huiwen asked everyone, but she didn't ask herself. But of course, she knew what her attitude was. Although she didn't tell her some thoughts in her heart, she didn't seem interested in asking...

"Where's Jacky? With Jacky's abilities, it's not a problem to get into any subject, right?" Annie asked.

"Fine Art?"

"Maths?"

"Physics?" Mandy and Tina took turns guessing, all of them were subjects that Xuan Lan was particularly good at, but Xuan Lan only shrugged, not all of them.

"Then what do you miss?" Emily was also curious.

Xuan Lan kept looking at He Huiwen—she just smiled at herself.

Maybe she really has nothing to look forward to.

"I think," Xuan Lan bit her lower lip: "Let's study medicine."

Medicine? Everyone stayed together for a while. Obviously, Xie Xuanlan said this sentence, which is more logical than anyone else - with her aptitude and diligence, it is definitely not a problem to get eight or nine in the exam - but it always sounds like something is wrong.

Even He Huiwen could not help raising her eyebrows unexpectedly.

"Okay, Jacky is doing well in medicine!" Tina patted her on the shoulder: "Sturdy enough, willing to take it."

"It's good to have a friend to be a doctor." Mandy echoed, "You can ask Jacky for any 'dizziness' in the future."

He Huiwen laughed "poof": "Then I hope I don't see you again in the future."

"Then if you read the law, I hope I don't have to see you." Xuan Lan shot back, as the saying goes, "If you don't live in the government, you won't go to hell if you die."

"That's not what you said, Jacky!" Tina quickly corrected: "In the future, you will buy a house. You may also need a lawyer for weddings and other weddings." The others nodded in agreement.

"These two things, for the time being, I don't see it happening to me either."

Except for He Huiwen, everyone thinks Xuan Lan's sentence is very intriguing - it is true that there is no need to talk about buying a property in Hong Kong, but getting married...

Her short hair and handsome face are indeed irresistible.

Even though everyone wanted to know, due to the different depths of friendship between them, no one asked, and the topic naturally turned to Mandy's options for studying business.

"Aren't you going home yet?" He Huiwen asked while sorting out today's results. Xuan Lan was very obsessed with the raft set board for some reason. It was already 7:30, except for the two of them, everyone else had left.

"I'll leave after painting this. After that, the paint can be put away." Xuan Lan continued to paint without looking back at her: "What about you? Is there a show on New Year's Eve?" He Huiwen is available again. There should be a lot of guys dating, right?

"I promised my brother to go to the beach with him tonight to count down." He Huiwen said with a smile. This seems to be her first single New Year's Eve since she was promoted to high school.

"That's good." Xuan Lan smiled and said, "Just leave it to me to clean it up, you go back first, so that your brother will not wait."

With her back to He Huiwen, she could not see the disappointed expression on the other's face, but that expression only lasted for a moment.

"Why... do you want to study medicine?"

"Huh?" Xuan Lan suddenly turned around.

"Why medicine?" He Huiwen asked again: "There are still many good-paying careers - actuaries, or working in the financial industry, as investment bankers, you can also make a lot of money. Why do you miss medicine?"

After last year's SARS (atypical pneumonia) epidemic, in He Huiwen's eyes, doctors are no longer just a high-paying profession, but a mission that will put you in danger at any time.

"Because, maybe this is the only job that pays well and gives me peace of mind?" A very simple answer, but it was actually the conclusion she had thought about for a long time: "What's the matter?"

"It's nothing, just curious." He Huiwen looked away: "Then I'll go back, don't stay too late."

"Okay, bye." After she finished speaking, she turned around to paint, until she heard the sound of He Huiwen's footsteps leaving, and she ended up writing.

She didn't know how He Huiwen looked at her at the moment.

She didn't even know whether the distance between them was getting closer or farther.
