Life Essays | Fifteen-year-old daughter's views on the Ukrainian-Russian war

When I woke up on February 24 and learned that Russia had officially attacked Ukraine, they turned on the cable TV, and the family watched the live news of CNN and BBC together to follow the progress of the war. The daughter also followed the development on Twitter.

Neither we nor our next generation have ever lived through war. Although I occasionally see news of wars in some regions from news reports, I always feel that it is far away from us. This time Ukraine was attacked by a powerful military powerhouse Russia, and I have a very different feeling. I feel that the war is very close to me. It feels as if this war is the beginning of the third world war.

News reported that afternoon that a father was sending his several-year-old daughter and wife away from Ukraine for asylum, and he wanted to stay in Ukraine because he wanted to protect the country. It's heartbreaking to see that parting scene, and I don't know when they'll be able to reunite. I'm not thinking too much, please have mercy on me.

My daughter (screen name: Sheep) used a picture of Putin to create an NFT work called " New Era, Same Kind. " on the second day of the war in Ukraine, and wrote her opinion:

This piece express how the generation of peace, and evolution, still repeats the events of the past. And how us as humans, do the same thing, history repeats. No matter what era we are living in. There will always be war. The war for power.
