Introduction to Forbole
Author: @Terence
My name is Lin Zhaofeng Terence, the co-founder of the blockchain startup@Forbole.
Forbole was established in 2017 with the goal of developing a decentralized business social network. When looking for suitable development tools, we found Tendermint , a consensus engine with Byzantine fault tolerance, and then looked for the two founders of Tendermint, Jae Kwon and Ethan Buchman The track record, only to know that they are working on another project called Cosmos , and then we joined the Cosmos community at the end of 2017.
At that time, we hoped to use the Cosmos SDK to develop a blockchain that met our needs, and entered the blockchain world of proof-of-stake. As far as I know, we were the only team from Hong Kong and very few from Chinese-speaking regions in the Cosmos ecosystem at that time.
In the process of learning to use the Cosmos SDK, we learned that we need to cultivate a community of validators. At that time, we didn't know what a validator was, so we tried to learn to be a validator, and then slowly used the validator's As active in the Cosmos community, we have received access from the Interchain Foundation .
But our goal has always been to develop the blockchain. We started an internal testnet and needed to monitor the operation of the testnet. At that time, there was only an immature Cosmos official blockchain browser, and the user experience provided by it did not meet the Our needs, so we decided to develop another one by ourselves. Then, we noticed that the third Cosmos HackAtom competition began to accept registrations, and the theme of that session was the validator series, so we optimized the UI and changed its name - Big Dipper . In the end, Big Dipper was also the winning work. one . As of the end of 2019, Big Dipper is supporting ten Cosmos ecological blockchains, and users from more than 140 countries around the world have browsed.
Before the mainnet launch of Cosmos Hub, the official held a competition called Game of Stakes as a pre-mainnet exercise. GoS claims to be the first Byzantine fault-tolerant decentralized network that provides substantial economic incentives and is adversarial in computer history with the participation of more than 100 nodes. We are proud to be one of the top 27 Never Jailed winning teams in GoS . Since the launch of the Cosmos Hub mainnet, we have been active in the blockchain world as one of the leading validators on the Cosmos Hub, especially as a non-Atoms fundraising, non-institutional investor, non-exchange, non-Cosmos/Tendermint Employees and civilian validators who are not from mining pools have gained a reputation in the field. At the same time, we also receive grants from the Interchain Foundation to support our work in open source software and community development.
As a validator, in addition to the blockchains active in the Cosmos ecosystem, we have expanded to other ecosystems, including Polkadot, Solana, V Systems and Aion, etc. So far, we have been active on nearly 20 different blockchains.
After more than a year of accumulation, we have made a comeback to restart the journey of a decentralized social network with an improved idea and plan, which is Desmos . The goal of Desmos is to reconstruct social networks through blockchain technology to improve the lives and benefits of users. The Desmos prototype we developed with the Cosmos SDK is one of the winning entries of the Cosmos HackAtom Seoul .
