Why can Westerners not give it to their home? If you're brave enough.... —Hero's Writing Chain Cheng
Today is the second day of a four-day holiday, so take it easy.
Ask everyone, do you have the habit of giving it to households?
As far as I know, not every friend around me will give home.
In our traditional Asian culture, it seems a bit sinful not to give home.
However, people in the West are not popular for household use! Do you think this is good news?
Westerners don't seem to have the concept of "filial piety"
In Chinese culture, "filial piety" means caring for and treating parents kindly, and obedience in both big and small matters.
However, have you noticed that the word "filial piety" doesn't seem to exist in the English world?
There is no Chinese concept of "filial piety" in Western cultural concepts. Western parents believe that their children have personal thoughts and values. The concept of "filial piety" will hinder the growth of their children's values.
In Western culture, parents believe that children do not live for their parents, they should have their own lives when they grow up.
Now, let me go a step further and explain what the Western idea of independence is all about.
Let me start with the Western concept of "filial piety".

In Western culture, parents believe that children do not live for their parents, they should have their own lives when they grow up.
Now, let me go a step further and explain what the Western idea of independence is all about.
independent western culture
Simply put, the independence of the West is actually two things, rights and obligations. You have the right to be independent, and you have the obligation to be responsible for your life, including all living expenses.
Many people in the West will move out and live alone when they are 18 years old. They have to bear their own living expenses early in the morning, and no longer ask their parents for pocket money. This is their independent ideology and culture.
At the same time, parents will also want to have their own personal space when their children become adults, and the children can care about them occasionally, but they don't have to serve them all day. When the children get married, the children come home 2 or 3 times a year, and they are already very happy. But if they stay in their hometown all year round, they will find it troublesome, which is a very strange thing.
Let me take the example of children and parents going out to dinner, and you will understand the difference between Eastern and Western cultures better.
We Orientals believe that the family does not need to be so clear about going out to eat, and there is no need to divide you and me. I will treat you this meal, and you will treat the next meal. There are back and forth.
However, we in the East like "treating guests" very much, but it seems strange to Westerners because there is no such thing in their culture. It is a matter of course for children and parents to go out to eat together and pay for their own expenses. There is no need to invite them to go out. It is just the so-called "AA system".
The independent culture of Westerners does not mean that children don't have to care about and pay attention to their parents, but that everyone should be unique in their own way.
Why do foreigners think there is no need to give it to the family?
In the following video, the host interviews some foreigners for their thoughts on giving home:
Let's take a look at what the first few foreigners interviewed had to say about giving home:
Video 0:32 : Man from UK: "Never thought, or would buy food for parents."
Video 0:39 : Woman from Australia: "I don't think it is necessary, unless the parents have special needs, the parents themselves will be able to do it."
Video 0:58 : Man from America: "I'm starting a business and the role of a child shouldn't be like that, will think about it when the parents get older and need more."
To sum up, the above three foreigners all think that there is no need to give their parents a home. If their parents have special needs, they will consider it, but they will not take the initiative to give it to their parents.
In the independent Western culture, although children will appreciate and respect their parents for their nurturing grace, they do not have the habit of giving their parents home on a monthly basis.
At the same time, Western parents also think that they can support themselves without the help of others, and even if you are my child, there is no need to give me a family. Of course, if parents are really in trouble, they also hope that their children will lend a helping hand!
On the contrary, we oriental parents think that giving home is very important. In traditional culture, it is even a way of communication. When you set aside time for home use, it proves that you still remember the existence of your parents, which is a kind of filial piety.
Summarize
Westerners don't seem to have the concept of "filial piety" in our Chinese. They think that this will hinder the growth of their children's values. Moreover, Westerners are more pursuing an independent ideology and culture. Parents and grown-up children should be responsible for their own lives, each with its own splendor. Therefore, in the eyes of Westerners, the concept of household use is not given.
However, we still have to give it to the home, because according to many cases around us, the risk of not giving it to the home can be very high, and the consequences can be tragic!
If you're brave enough, tell your parents about the culture that Westerners don't give at home, and see how they react!
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
