Only Wuhan has "Thanksgiving Education"? ——We grew up influenced by "Thanksgiving Education"
Abstract----To understand why Secretary Wang firmly believes that the people will be grateful to the "general secretary and the party", we must start with the long-term "gratitude education" in schools and society in mainland China.
"Changjiang Daily" reported that on March 6, Hubei Municipal Party Committee Secretary Wang Zhonglin asked party members to "be grateful to the general secretary, thank the Communist Party, listen to the party, follow the party, and form a strong positive energy..." I I won't go further, I'm afraid to spit it out with a smile. Of course, we thought this was absurd, and wondered if Secretary Wang's head was kicked by a donkey. Of course, showing loyalty to his superiors is of course one of his considerations, but why use the method of "gratitude education"? To understand why Secretary Wang firmly believes that the people will be grateful to the "general secretary and the party", we must start with the long-standing "gratitude education" in schools in mainland China.
What is "Gratitude Education"? People who have not received basic education in mainland China may not know what "gratitude" education is. Maybe you've also heard of group footwashes that preach "thank your parents." In fact, almost all people who have attended middle school in mainland China have experienced: a certain Yang's "Crazy English" tour of middle schools in the country; some famous "speakers" lectured on "filial piety" in middle school and moved the audience to tears. There are so many different things.
Next, based on my personal experience, let’s talk about the specific routine of gratitude education.
I have never experienced such an exaggerated experience of collective foot washing and kneeling worship. However, the school always asks each class to carry out "themed education activities" (such as "Thank you parents", "Love the motherland", "Learn from Lei Feng", etc.) in class meetings or at the flag-raising ceremony on Monday. It should be familiar to all those who have received basic education in mainland China. In addition, many so-called "speakers" who go to primary and middle schools to give speeches give collective speeches to everyone on the big playground, and also have the kind of "thankful education" with background music. I have experienced it a few times. Although they have a variety of names, the presenters have only one purpose - to sell their books and DVDs.
Of course, what I'm talking about is not how the school leaders deal with power and money, and how filthy it is that these guys come into the school to sell chicken soup and cheat money. The education system and schools acquiesce and even encourage such commercial activities to enter the campus. In addition to taking advantage of the opportunity to make money, they also value the so-called educational significance of the "Thanksgiving Education" brand in their speeches. What impresses me more is their routine. Briefly summarize the steps below (the order of steps may vary):
step1 . Talk about their respective topics . "Guoxue" and "Master" (Please allow me to add quotation marks to these two words.) Speaking of "Guoxue", English training institutions talk about their inspirational experiences in learning English, and professional "speakers" begin to brag about their personal experiences . He put forward the correct nonsense that "students should study hard, make progress every day, and be a good student with excellent character and study".
step2. Gratitude to parents from hard study. Usually at this time, the emotional and sad background music plays ("Mother in Candlelight", "Grateful Heart" and other songs), the stage is full of emotion, and the audience is full of tears. Once I knew how sorry I was for my parents. The content is probably that the speaker's parents taught him earnestly at that time, and the love was deep, so did your parents! So don't you love studying and face your parents? ! Promoting that the love of parents is selfless, and your repayment to them should be unlimited, and so on. So far, the content is quite satisfactory. Although there are many opinions that can't stand up to scrutiny, after all, you can't expect a talkative idiot to speak nonsense and correct nonsense on stage.
step3. From the level of the family to the level of the country, from the infinite love for parents, to the infinite love for the country. This section often changes the style of painting, from sensational music to exciting music, and the content of the topic is suddenly transferred to the "patriotic" channel, and the content that appears is probably "the rise and fall of the world is the responsibility of each individual" (it is estimated that the speaker himself I don't know what the original context of this sentence is) "Learning English is patriotism" (an English training institution) "The motherland is facing huge strategic threats and challenges" "Reading for the rise of China" "Under the leadership of the party, we are moving forward bravely "The country is like our mother, feeding us" and so on.
Have you noticed that there are three fundamental problems in this "thankful education" routine?
- Are the powers and responsibilities between parents and children really unlimited? Assuming it is infinite, shouldn't it be bidirectional ?
- The country is not the mother, the government is not the mother, the party is not the mother. The analogy between the state and the parents is essentially the relationship between "father and son" and "monarch and minister" in ancient China. Does this relationship apply to modern countries? Even if it is applicable, is the earliest relationship between ruler and minister in ancient times really "the ruler wants the minister to die and the minister has to die"? At least Mencius doesn't think so.
- The context of the above two points is: China generally does not have the concept of equal rights and responsibilities between the state and the people. The government has unlimited authority, but only limited responsibility.
Even without clarifying these problems, mainland Chinese people have been continuously influenced by gratitude education from childhood to adulthood, so that a person is full of gratitude for everything the country should do, and tends to "express understanding" of existing problems . However, not everyone present was crying out of sincerity. We have no way of knowing how many people are moved by group pressure and infection, but there will definitely be people who don't cry. They are often under greater pressure and are often influenced by those who are "kind-hearted and morally noble". The classmates asked: "Aren't you touched? Why are you so hard-hearted!".
However, you must know that even Chinese who have been influenced by gratitude education for a long time have a limit to "express understanding". By the time I finished this article, this gratitude education campaign in Wuhan had already "overturned". The problem is that this time the situation has exceeded the limit of "expressing understanding", but the officials do not know it. Why is this?
The more gratitude education is performed, the leaders will really believe it . Long-term false feedback has cultivated delusional personalities of officials. He thinks that if the gratitude education is carried out, everyone will respond. He may also know that this is propaganda, but he feels that such propaganda should get the desired results. Because, this kind of "Thanksgiving education" has been performed countless times in every school in China, and it has never "overturned"; this kind of political propaganda has appeared many times on the news network in the past, Rarely heard of "rollovers". This is an illusion created by yourself, but you are deceived by the illusion. And China's long-term manipulation of public opinion and collective performances will not only confuse the people in the "Great Firewall", but also confuse the officials in the "Red Wall".
