2022: Ditch FAANG, find ABC
UBS believes it's time to look beyond the big tech stocks and focus on the "ABCs of technology", namely artificial intelligence (AI), big data and cyber security
UBS expects total revenue in the three areas of artificial intelligence, big data and cybersecurity to grow from $386 billion in 2020 to $625 billion in 2025.
The AI field should have the fastest annual growth rate of revenue, expected to be close to 20%, while the big data and cybersecurity field revenue is expected to grow at an annual rate of 8-10%, but the potential for profit expansion is greater ; It is expected that the annual growth rate of earnings per share (EPS) of companies related to the 'Technology ABC' theme will reach 16%.
Although tech giants will still perform strongly in 2021, their valuations will be around 30 times expected earnings in 2022, and the expected earnings growth rate for next year will be in the low double digits of the teens, and large tech companies are still face regulatory risk.
UBS is bullish on small and mid-cap tech stocks, believing they will grow earnings faster than large tech stocks, face less regulatory or tax risk, have a greater chance of benefiting from consolidation, and invest through private equity Early-stage growth companies that have not yet been listed on the public market.
