Essay │ Sukhothai Ruins
【Re-edit the article on 2020/02/02】
During the Lunar New Year in 2020, I went to Thailand, which was actually a trip with my family, but because of one day, I went to Sukhothai Historical Park, a famous world cultural heritage in north-central Thailand. park), so I took care of myself as a site inspection.
Sukhothai is a city about 11 to 15 hours away from Bangkok by bus. It is divided into the "old city" where the historical park is located and the "new city" where traffic and life are more convenient. Although Sukhothai is far away from Bangkok, I seriously feel that it can be a place to "go at least once in a lifetime", because when I arrived and looked at the historical park, I was moved and said silently: "This is mine. First World Cultural Heritage Achievement".
Sukhothai is famous for being an important ancient dynasty, and there are still relevant documents left for inquiry. The Sukhothai Dynasty existed in the 13th to 14th centuries. It is said that the first dynasty (country) in Thailand is located. The current location of the dynasty is filled with many large and small architectural relics of the Sukhothai period, which constitute a "Sukhothai". Thai Historical Park".
I looked at the historical park, and at first glance it felt a bit like Angkor Wat, but the overall landscape, architecture and sculpture style were still different, but I was still shocked by the grand and remnant buildings.
Looking at the ancient Buddha statues and ancient buildings reflected in the water, I felt a sense of regret. I felt that although the architectural relics in front of me reflected the glory of the Sukhothai Dynasty, it was still difficult for me to imagine the Sukhothai at that time. What kind of appearance it is, it seems that I can only look at the stone pillars, Buddha statues, and pagodas here, speculating about the possible past. In an instant, I understood why the public always found it difficult to imagine the importance of "those broken pottery pieces and stones" when doing archaeological work in Taiwan.
Just having said that, the official culture-related units of Thailand are also interested in the research and presentation of Sukhothai. I found that there are 3D reconstruction display boards in front of the architectural relics, so that the audience and tourists can get closer to the imagination; in addition, There are also QR code links in 5 languages (Thai, Japanese, Chinese, French and English) on the signs at the entrances of each building complex. Short YouTube videos allow users of different languages to quickly and easily understand the history of Sukhothai. I personally feel that there is a kind of silent touch, it should be to feel a little friendliness that can enhance mutual understanding.
In addition, I took a closer look at the Sukhothai-style Buddha statues and found that they are very different from the typical and familiar Buddha statues in Taiwan. I especially like the fingers of the Buddha statues (non-hand accusations), which are slender, curved, and delicate. It's just because I'm lazy, I didn't go further to search for relevant information, I can't explain more, I just watch it purely, and then think that the aesthetics of Sukhothai people have these characteristics, right?
Sukhothai is a place that is still hot in January and February, but is quiet and leisurely. If you have the opportunity to visit later, it may be a place where you can spend 2 or 3 days leisurely, and I heard that when you go to the ancient city at different times. , the scenery at dawn and dusk is very different, it is a good place for site inspection and emptying.
