Lively Lu Snake Festival: "Life of Six Houses"

The first time I read Okuda's work is "The Rumored Woman", I was deeply attracted by the author's straightforward and hilarious description of ugly human nature, so I searched for more of his works.

"Issue Rouge" contains six stories that take place in Shibuya, and six interrelated debauchery lives.

Fat and sloppy freelance writers, amateur AV housewives addicted to sex, cowardly KTV clerks, AV scouts who treat girls as commodities, down-and-out erotic novelists, dinosaur girls who sell their own sex CDs to make money, a group of ordinary people, In order to make a living and to resolve all kinds of stagnation in life.

However, this is not a bottom-level struggle inspirational book. The reading process does not arouse the slightest sympathy, and even makes people feel funny, because these characters are a group of scumbags with no moral concept and low-mindedness (laughs)

The story subtly arranges that these Lu snakes are involved without knowing it, and they degrade and torture each other. Their own inferiority complex makes them angry, bullying the good and fearing the evil. They can only laugh at ninety-nine steps. Hundred steps of attitude to contempt for those who are weaker than themselves.

When I saw the second half, my emotions turned from ridiculous to sad, because there is nothing sadder than watching disadvantaged groups being excluded and oppressed by mainstream groups, than watching disadvantaged groups abusing people more vulnerable than themselves.

The old man in the middle-aged crisis uses the helper girl as a tool to vent his desires; the Lu Snake Man, who has no relationship with the opposite sex, vents his desires and anger on the dinosaur girl; People despise each other, yet depend on each other, forming an incredible circle. This circle formed by people of desire may be Shibuya in the eyes of the author.

The translated name of "Life in Six Houses" has been changed quite well, except if I didn't read the introduction, I thought it was a relaxed and warm collection of life stories. The original Japanese title of the book is "ララピポ", which means "a lot of people".
