After reading | "Don't Knock on the Door Tomorrow"
It's been a long time since I read a book that could bring tears to my eyes, and it's called Don't Knock on Your Door Tomorrow.
Author: Frederick Beckmann (Swedish)
Translator: Yan Zhixiang
When I first heard this book, I had the impression that a movie of the same name was based on this novel. At the time, I had absolutely no interest in this movie, and thought it might be a boring drama. But because @shuman introduced this book, I bought this novel with five times the revitalization coupons, and I didn't start reading this book until a few days ago.
The protagonist of the book, Oufu, strictly speaking, he is actually a very good-hearted person. His father's teaching since childhood made him a serious and responsible person who does not procrastinate or speak ill of others at will. Throughout his life, he was guided by his father's teaching, which became the criterion of his life.
On the road of his life, he encountered many difficulties and was even laughed at, so he began to arm himself; he began to treat himself and others indifferently. From an upright young man who was hurt, he turned himself into an unlovable person who would never be hurt again until he met his wife.
Although his personality is rigid and rigid, he is 100% devoted to his wife. Only his wife understands the preciousness of his personality and loves him wholeheartedly. And he cherished his wife so much until she left, and it was as if Overher's life died with it.
I saw in the last line of one of them, he said to his wife, "I miss you so much." Tears fell involuntarily. That's what he said in front of his wife's tombstone.
The book describes him as a very stubborn person, rigid and inflexible in his work, which reminds me of myself, is there a part of me like him who is not seen or understood? It seems that he can understand the situation in his heart. The person who looks strong and unstoppable on the outside has the opposite inside. Perhaps because of this, I cried when I saw the phrase "I miss you so much", which represents vulnerability and helplessness.
The novel tells the story of the protagonist who, from the very beginning, has no smile on his face, earnestly doing what he thinks is right. Until his wife left, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his deceased wife to help him enter death, but he was unable to succeed. In the end, he gave the love in his heart to the people in this community who also cared about him, and finally got his wish. He left, four years later, four years after he wanted to commit suicide, because his heart stopped, and he left peacefully.
He, who was bent on dying, not only failed to die, but instead greeted the world with the most beautiful gesture .
His funeral was attended by more than 300 people, and it is enough to tell what kind of person he is by having so many people at his funeral. Even though he is indifferent on the surface, the most primitive love in his heart is warm.
Why did he make this change? In addition to his wife, someone inspired the most tender love in his heart, because seeing the soft side of him, even though he knew that his appearance was cold but his heart was hot, they respected him like a father. This man was his neighbor, the wife of a couple.
The whole story makes me feel that it is the love that does not lie in the hands of others. It is not apparent, but radiates from the heart. Even if he doesn't like it, he is still willing to love them.
After reading the book, my tears couldn't stop. It's been a long time since I was so moved by reading it. I can only use my own shallow words and clumsy words to describe the throbbing from the bottom of my heart. Sometimes I really wish I knew a little more words, so that I could put all my inner feelings on paper.
But now I can't, because I don't have so many words to describe the excitement at this time.
I hope that in the future, I can really have more and better writing skills, so that I can record every moving moment of every process in my life.
I've been practicing writing my thoughts lately. 😄😄😁😁
