Reading Pen Farming|Special Notes VAF ╳ AMA: Business Experience/Investment Viewpoints of Financial Creators
The guest invited to this AMA Lecture is @IEObserve , who has more than 10 years of experience in operating financial media. The interview notes are compiled and shared below.
■ IEO two or three things
- Main business: fan page, square pay column.
- Original intention: I enjoy "research" very much, and I am happy to share the results with everyone.
- The origin of IEObserve?
The I and E at the beginning are the prefixes of the English International and Economics respectively, and are also the theme of the creation: observing "international current affairs" and "economy" , and these themes happen to complement each other with "investment".
- The origin of the Eagle LOGO?
Handsome, with a sense of looking around the world.
■ How to operate on different platforms
- Facebook fan
There are no fixed rules. However, I regularly read a lot of information every day, so the daily output of posts is also large (more than five posts a day). If the number of posts is too large, it should bring some unexpected effects. It may be a crooked hit and attract certain audiences.
The style is biased towards "short stories", and the subject matter is broad, such as the stock market, technology, international current affairs, currency circles... There is a bit of logic in the mix.
- "Long-form" articles that generate strong interest and want to study in depth.
■ The logic of your research
After finding an issue of interest:
- Search for relevant information on Google first.
Clarify the core essence of a company, what problem to solve, what the product is, business model, upstream and downstream supply chain, past performance, who are the competitors...🔥.
- Create a "low-noise" data receiving channel.
📌
1. RSS reader database.
By classifying several folders, pouring in the media you trust, you can quickly find the content you want to watch. Currently, the service of Inoreader is used.
2. Customize the search rules of the Google engine.
3. Customize your Twitter tracking list.
The feature of Twitter is that the information is very "instant", so that the same type of content can be seen on the same wall.
■ How to filter materials?
- First scan a lot to understand what you are most concerned about?
- Looking at the original data, take U.S. stocks as an example, which would be financial statements and conference call records.
- Build an Analysis Architecture
📌
1. Clarify the core essence of a company ... (I mentioned it just now, and put the 🔥 mark on the positioning point).
2. Verify that what others say is reasonable
What the news says vs what the company says vs what the research institute says.
3. You will also have a family statement
I have a model that can calculate an estimate (valuation).
4. Risk Analysis
Balance reporting, but also talk about risks. What difficulties might the company encounter?
■ Will you give up on the subject?
meeting.
In addition to the reason of "no opinion", if it is obvious that the company's "share price will fall later", it will also hold the question first.
📌
Remain objective
Financial issues are quite sensitive, and try to make positive and negative viewpoints coexist without being biased.
Do n't speak too arbitrarily
There are two kinds of people who speak swear words, one is a fraud, and the other is not aware of the limitations of their knowledge.
■ Are you full time?
Originally engaged in e-commerce, since contacting financial creation:
Early stage: The main focus is on e-commerce, and creation is an interest.
In the later stage: the main force is on creation, and e-commerce has become a part-time job.
Continue to cultivate these two fields, but the "proportion level" changes over time . The two are also connected with each other. For example, the tricks of running e-commerce can also be applied to fans and communities for testing.
📌
Where the audience is .
In the beginning, you appeared in a place where fans often haunt and discuss, and show your presence.
Show your true self, but don't act
swipe traffic where you're "really interested", so that you won't be hot for three minutes.
■ Various monetization pipeline attempts
- The subscription system sees that Mulia is doing it, and I want to try it myself.
- Someone invited to write a book and start a class, but I felt that I was not an expert (just a researcher), so I put it on hold for the time being.
- Peripheral products are not excluded, I am thinking
Going into the second half….
■ What do you think caused the bear market
- Let's talk about the bull market first.
In the past, in order to save the economy, the government printed money and scattered money, and low interest rates (low cost of capital) pushed up the stock market, housing market, raw materials... Too much money pursued limited targets, causing the market to overheat and causing inflation.
- Let's talk about the bear market background again.
In the face of inflationary pressures, there is no early response, and in the end, the funds have to be recovered even harder.
📌
The easing / tightening in recent years has been too fast, and the response of funds will be relatively large.
■ From traditional finance to the currency circle, how do you feel?
- The currency circle is regarded as a new technological development.
- See what drives its value growth, but it's harder to dig into the fundamentals.
- Many projects are "Ponzi economies" .
Pay attention to market consensus and people's consensus, much like a mobile game. The lifeblood of the game lies in the continuous tuition fee; since the overall value can be increased by "relying on the "backward money to make up the first money", it is necessary to judge whether the project can "continuously attract people and funds".
- Find long-term needs.
On the other hand, can the flow continue to flow in? In the long run, what is the "problem to be solved" by the project party? What is the "need point" that everyone has to use it all the time?
■ What are the potential industries in the future?
- A low interest rate environment is more likely to foster innovative ideas.
- long-term trend.
Electric vehicles, energy storage, alternative energy, solar energy, cloud services, network security, population aging issues.
■ How to get in touch with US stocks from scratch?
- Find an introductory book, such as JC's " US Stock Investing ".
- Start with "self".
Start with your own interests/industry . For example, people in the currency circle can start research on Coinbase and observe the company's operations and financial indicators... .
- It's one thing to be a "good company", it's another thing to buy a "good price".
- Otherwise, buy a large plate !
Research the constituent stocks in the ETF as a starting point. - Start your research with industry leaders .
- US stocks are easier than the currency circle, and there are fundamentals to follow.
■ Thoughts on the Web 3 creator economy
- First and foremost, what is the problem that Web2/Web3 is trying to solve?
The advantages of Web3 lie in equity crowdfunding, capital liquidity, and transmission speed. It wants to liberate certain rights from the company and turn it into a certain sense of equity that it controls and holds , which is also the concept of "coin".
The core of Web3 should be to make it easier for the "project side" to obtain financing channels; for the "user side", it must be realized that this is a risk, and it is an early (equity crowdfunding) venture capital.
- Consensus is formed, more people join (imagine TikTok), and that's where the value comes from.
- Take a look at the actual participation, but don't ALL IN.
- Keep an open mind and don't start off with a negative attitude.
