Physical fitness for the elderly
This time, I took advantage of the double ten consecutive holidays to come to a beautiful campus to participate in the courses of "Senior Fitness Tester" and "Senior Sports Fitness Instructor"
This is a three-day course
Day 1 - Senior Fitness Tester
The first day of the course is to teach how to detect the physical fitness of the elderly. At the beginning, I will learn some physiology of the elderly, and by the way, I will explain the problem of aging population in Taiwan, and then I will explain each functional fitness. What are the testing items, why do such testing, how to perform testing, what tools are needed, what terms are there, things to pay attention to, etc.
There are a total of 9 functional fitness testing items for the elderly, which are actually nothing more than testing their muscle strength, cardiopulmonary function, flexibility, reaction, balance and so on. Through the measured results, they know which piece they are lacking, and strengthen it to slow down their aging as much as possible.
In the afternoon, the actual drill will be started, and the assessment will be added. In fact, it has been a long time since the high-pressure life of taking exams immediately after studying, so I am still too nervous.
I don't know if it's because I'm no longer young, and I went home after class on the first day, and I was so tired that I was about to collapse. Going home can really be said to wash and sleep.
2nd and 3rd day - Senior Sports Fitness Instructor
The two-day course should be regarded as an extension of the first day, because the tester will tell the fitness coach the results of the test, so that the coach can know which part of the senior friend needs to be strengthened, and the coach can strengthen it according to his needs. The place to design a whole set of exercise classes that may be 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Today's course is of course more in-depth and more difficult. In addition to talking about the physiology of the seniors, he also talked about the psychology of the seniors. The coach also shared his personal experience, asking us in class, do we really know these senior friends?
In fact, I have experience in caring for the elderly myself, because my grandfather occasionally needs to go to the hospital for medical treatment, and sometimes he needs me to go to the hospital to accompany him. At the beginning, the mission must be fulfilled, but...after a long time... Maybe it will be As the saying goes, "there is no dutiful son in front of the bed for a long time." Although I don't have a bad attitude towards my grandfather because I often run around like this, I still feel a little tired sometimes.
In fact, the other day when I heard the coach share the various experiences he had encountered while leading the seniors to exercise, it made me feel a little red-eyed.
The conversation changed, and after lunch, we were asked to gather in the auditorium, which didn't feel quite right.
as predicted......
From the afternoon of the second day to the noon of the third day, it is our exercise time.
Of course, in addition to teaching us some basic sports, the coach also taught us the use of many assistive devices, such as resistance balls, elastic ropes, mineral water and so on.
(I'm just curious, can these sports seniors really do it?)
But in fact, what the coach said is also very reasonable. We should not think that the elderly cannot do it, so they will not be allowed to do some sports, or they will be allowed to perform some static activities, which will not help their health at all.
The coach said that when you go to the community, you want to bring your big brother and big sister to sweat together, not to play board game with big brother and big sister.
On the afternoon of the third day, we conducted the assessment again. The content of this assessment is to briefly introduce themselves, introduce how sports can help them, and also have some actions to ask about, adjust their posture, 3 aerobic exercises + 3 lower limb muscle strength exercises (4 exercises for 8 beats per exercise) ), and finally take them to do stretching exercises. The above content should be completed in 6 minutes. The point of stretching is to teach them how to breathe and tell them why they are doing stretching exercises. It is not necessary to stretch them completely.
But.... In fact, these have to be completed within 6 minutes, in fact, there is still a certain degree of difficulty!!!
I heard that today will be notified if the assessment has passed, and I am still waiting, hoping to pass.
Although these three days were really hard and tiring, I brought a pair of iron legs home, and it was a good harvest, right!?
According to statistics, elderly people in Taiwan are cared for for an average of 9 years.
Taiwan's rising average age, declining fertility rate, etc., have led to the day when we become a super-aged society is getting closer and closer. It is estimated that by 2025, 20% of our population will be over the age of 65.
As human beings, we have no way to avoid birth, old age, sickness and death, we can only choose how to live our future life. Instead of lying in bed for 9 years, it is better to choose to be able to live independently, which is also the biggest goal of physical fitness for the elderly.
If you want to be active, you must move, let's move together~
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
