Section 4: Meiji Restoration

In the 1920s, a series of national political parties emerged in Japan. For any country, this means that all political parties will be involved in a fierce struggle between "the ruling party" and the "opposition party". But even in this case, Japan's local administrative agencies have not been affected by this trend at all, and the situation is still mainly controlled by the "elders". Schools, police and courts are not under the jurisdiction of local administrative governments such as cities, towns and villages.

In the Netherlands, even the mayor and mayor are legally appointed and dismissed by the queen, so the queen's power is formally direct to the local government. The Japanese school system is largely based on the French tradition. The average American advocates that the state should perform its internal functions as little as possible, while in the eyes of the Japanese this is not the case. They believe that the state is almost perfect, and the more the government cares about the lives of the people, the better.

The Japanese way of life is to give certain people certain privileges, but at the same time limit this power to a certain range. Compared with Western culture, Japanese are more respectful and submissive to "superior". Therefore, "superiors" will have greater freedom of action, but at the same time their behavior must be moderate. The Japanese motto is: "Each has his own place, and everyone has his own place".

When the head of the military disagrees with the cabinet, the military can take action before the government has made a decision. As in other areas, all the consequences of military actions are borne by the Japanese people, not that they strongly agree with the military, but because the military is privileged on these issues, and Japanese culture does not Nationals are allowed to raise any doubts about privilege.

The government should not only formulate development plans for enterprises, but also become a strong economic backing and source of funds for enterprises. "When these enterprises are well-organized and their businesses mature," the government sells state-owned enterprises to these private companies. Japan's guiding ideology is to build the large corporations it needs most with minimal sacrifice and expense.

Japan changed: "The normal starting point and production sequence of the capitalist mode of production". Japanese enterprises did not start with the production of light industrial products and consumer goods. On the contrary, from the very beginning, it vigorously established large-scale heavy industries that are related to the national economy and people's livelihood. Due to the low labor price, these light industries can survive today with the rapid development of technology, and will continue to exist. They work in what Americans call "family sweatshops."

Japanese politicians felt that in order to match their hierarchical status in other fields, they had to develop a hierarchical culture in finance as well. The government should not only give them profits, but also give them a high social status and be respected by people. Try to nurture these chaebols within a framework that doesn't violate accepted hierarchy.

In Japan, due to the deep influence of hierarchical thinking, the common people in Japan can easily identify with the hierarchical system.
