What is my outlook/money outlook in 2022?
Last time we talked a little about the impact of industry on wages, this time we look at the survey research report in more detail.
This time, I am sharing the global employment outlook report released by the headhunting company Manpower. Every year or even every quarter, many large headhunting companies will release relevant employment reports, including salary in various fields, employer manpower allocation plans, etc. The two girls suggested that those who want to enter FIRE with financial freedom can visit regularly to understand market dynamics a little, or understand the salary structure gap between Taiwan and other countries, and make more directional career planning.
Manpower 2022 Q1 Survey Report https://www.manpowergrc.tw/index.php?route=newsblog/category&category_id=17
This research is a survey conducted by Manpower on 605 employers in Taiwan to understand the overall employment environment in Taiwan from January to March 2022. The two girls find there are some interesting figures.
The demand for manpower in the Asia-Pacific region is stable, but Taiwanese employers have relatively conservative hiring attitudes
The survey compared data from 40 countries/regions around the world. The demand for manpower in the Asia-Pacific region is more stable than other regions. Among them, employers in India are the most willing to recruit (49%), followed by Australia (37%) and Hong Kong ( 37%), employers in Japan are the most conservative (11%).
However, Taiwan is not much higher than Japan. The net employment outlook is only 13%, indicating that Taiwanese employers are still conservative about the future. Only 35% of employers expect to increase manpower, 25% plan to reduce manpower, and 38% remain unchanged.
Big business opportunities
In terms of company size, large companies with more than 250 employees are the most willing to hire in the first quarter (25%), while smaller companies with less than 10 employees are expected to reduce their workforce allocation (-8%).
Industry comparison
There were 11 industry classifications in the survey, of which 9 saw an increase in job opportunities, 1 remained flat and 1 declined.
- Flat industries: other industries (maybe industries that don't know how to classify?)
- Declining industries: government units and education (-4%)
- Increased industries: primary production (39%), engineering construction (23%), wholesale and retail (18%), manufacturing (14%), publishing, audio-visual and information communication (13%), accommodation and catering (9%) ), financial insurance and real estate (8%), and other services (6%). For nonprofits, the numbers are not included because the survey sample is too small.
Among them, the strongest primary production industry, the demand is mainly from the seasonal labor shortage in agriculture, and the government has vigorously expanded the construction of offshore wind power in recent years. Even though many offshore wind farm plans have been postponed due to the epidemic, it is expected to remain in 2022. There will be 4 offshore wind farms completed, so the demand for related wind farm operation engineers, environmental safety and health personnel, project management personnel, and construction personnel will increase. The government's development policies and directions will greatly affect the job market, so you can usually pay more attention. For the wholesale and retail industries, which are highly related to people's livelihood, the demand comes from the government's economic stimulus package, such as five-fold coupons and the Chinese New Year's consumption boom. The other is the digital transformation from the retail industry. E-commerce players expand logistics, warehousing, etc., and also create vacancies such as warehouse management personnel, tally and shipping personnel, and bus drivers. The increase in vacancies in the information and communication industry is also related to the epidemic. Various digital transformation needs have created demand for data analysts, programmers, cloud development engineers, and software engineers. Although the engineering construction industry and the manufacturing industry have also released related vacancies, there are still some hidden concerns. These hidden concerns are related to the serious cargo congestion and shortage of materials in the world, which may still affect employers' hiring plans to some extent.
Therefore, how to evaluate the choice of the industry and speed up the time to live in the FIRE life, of course, your own interests and majors are very important, but it is also recommended to pay attention to global trends, government policies, and regularly check the employment outlook released by relevant agencies material.
