Happy things and difficult things
Two days ago, a student posted a photo of a cat on her Facebook. The cat had just been bathed and had fluffy hair, lying lazily on the floor. It looked so cute like that. I immediately sent a private message to the student if I could draw it. Of course the student didn’t say no.
Without thinking, I took out the color pencils, used only three or five colors, and was done in a few strokes. She quickly passed the painting on to her students, and she and her daughters were very happy and loved it!
Painting is a happy thing. It not only heals oneself but also relieves worries. The person who paints is happy, and the person who looks at it is also happy. Therefore, I share it with everyone, hoping that everyone will be melted by its cute look and have a happy working day.
A while ago, a student posted a photo on his Facebook. There were two clumps of green plants hanging on the dilapidated red brick wall of the village. The old walls, old houses and backlit plants have rich colors and layers. I immediately messaged him privately if I could use it to draw, and of course the student wouldn’t say no.
This photo has a lot of detail and is not an easy subject to work with.
Although the brick wall in the foreground is backlit, it has many different color patches. Some are still brick color, some are moldy, and some have turned black. But the top of the brick wall is the light-receiving surface, where the highlight is.
There are two clumps of plants in the middle ground, one behind the other. How to draw the transparency of the leaves due to backlighting and the sense of distance between the two clumps of plants is not easy. And the clump behind is a fern, which still needs to be painted. It's even more difficult to see them hanging around.
The background is a dilapidated screen window, which is mottled and in the dark, giving it a decadent and dilapidated feel.
Therefore, this painting required a lot of time to observe and think about, and I had to be careful and fearful when writing. If any mistake was made, its atmosphere might be lost.
Although it is a difficult task, I learned a lot of watercolor skills after working hard and it also gives me a sense of accomplishment. Therefore, don’t be deterred by difficulties, because you will grow because of difficulties.
