Matt City Vision Gallery: Engraved Geller

At the end of 2017, I don’t know if I was inspired, stimulated, or inspired. I made a big outburst, and my hands were itchy. I couldn’t give up if I didn’t do something DIY. Poke poke, and don't want to spend too much. In the end, I carved a rubber stamp at will, I thought it would be good to satisfy my desire to do it a little bit, but who would have guessed that the fall was so great that I couldn't stop it!

At that time, my family was always making fun of me: "Have you not had a case recently?" I placed an order with the universe, and I hope the editor will send me some hand-made books as soon as possible, but the universe may be afraid that I will waste my work and have not realized my wish (laughs).

Minimalist Tools

The tools I use are as simple as that, a very bright carving knife and an eraser, which can be bought at ordinary stationery stores. The eraser in the photo is just for me to use as a schematic diagram. This eraser is good for erasing, but it is not suitable for engraving stamps. After testing, an eraser with a little hardness will be better for engraving. I actually use the super-hard-to-erase eraser purchased at the ten-yuan store in the vegetable market. The hardness and area are the most ideal.

Of course, if you want to do good work, you must first sharpen your tools. If you want to carve good works, you can pay more attention to various tools, but I just carve for fun. Work hard on this.

At the moment of engraving, all of my energy is invested in the small square in front of me, which unexpectedly has the effect of concentration. After engraving one at a time, in addition to the sense of accomplishment, there is also a feeling of being healed by the process. And the work efficiency was very good at that time, just because after completing the progress, you could plunge into the world of stamping with peace of mind.

That time, the fever continued for almost half a year. There are more and more finished products, and the more you get started, the more complex the lines are, and the more detailed you are, the more satisfied you are! In order to store these elaborate works, I also changed several boxes to pack them, and finally took a beautifully designed wedding cake box as my rubber stamp treasure box. After about a hundred chapters were carved, I finally put down the carving knife with satisfaction (unfortunately, I did not become a Buddha on the spot).

The finished products became the toys of the precious girls. I often see them taking the rubber stamps I engraved and making one after another small story booklets. It is a pity that they have not been preserved. Later, after Xiaomanniu discovered this treasure box of seals, he moved the whole box to play with it unsurprisingly.

When I saw @guchen sharing my handmade works , I suddenly remembered my rubber stamps, so I eagerly wanted to show my creations, but I couldn't find the treasure box. When cleaning up Xiaoman Niu's toys, put! I! of! Heart! Blood! Complete! department! leave! Lose! !

I have just recovered from the blow of losing the picture file last month, and I have lost my heart again!

With a glimmer of hope, I went back to the bookcases where stationery and tools were kept, and the area where the bulls were playing.

In the end only found these two on the work table:

Brief description of the work: The piece of wood under the rubber stamp is from my brother. He said that it should be glued to the wood to facilitate the stamping. On a piece of wood are two early engraved chapters, which can barely be seen: the light-colored piece on the upper left is a steamed bun with a turban and sweating to catch up with the work, which is also the best portrayal of my work; the lower right It is a pigeon with a letter in its mouth. I often use this to cover the envelope bag when sending letters.

These are the only two chapters I have at hand at the moment....

Later, I reluctantly went to the cloud to rummage through the photo library many years ago, and I finally found a few photos of my works that I took and shared with my friends, as well as the photos that my friends kept at that time! (crying with joy)

Unfortunately, not half of them were engraved in 2018. All I found were works from the exploration period at the end of 2017. The finished products in the early stage were still very poorly engraved, and even the chapters were a little blurred. It is a bit lacquer to use these to present treasures. , but now there are no other entities to enjoy, and there is currently no leisure to restart the hand-made mode, everyone will see it~

＜Christmas version＞

At the beginning, there were not many finished products, and there were not many colors of the ink pad, but it was enough to have fun with the babies. Later, it was even used by the family to write Christmas cards, and both adults and children had a great time. At that time, I also picked a few suitable chapters and put up a few picture cards for the occasion. I wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Description of the work: A round frame is formed by interspersing some small Christmas elements such as strawberries, Christmas trees, leaves and candy canes, and the pink figure in the middle is my own "Egg Superman" (the back There is also a little story, but it is not the point, so this article skips it).

Small description of the work: I also use some stamps of petals and leaves to cover the outer frame like a goddess scattered flowers, and then use a colored pen to write MERRY CRISTMAS in the middle. The pink girl wearing a hat and scarf below the English word is me, next to me There is a little yellow cat with a green leaf in its hand.

＜New Year's Edition＞

Later, he made a handmade New Year's card, covered it with a rubber stamp, and sent his blessings to the three good sisters.

Small description of the work: Four girls are engraved, that is, me and three other good sisters. The four held a heart in their hands, and wrote Japanese "と・も・だ・ち" in their hearts, meaning friends. The four people are connected by small strawberries, strung into a circle, and in the center write Happy New Year with a colored pen.

Because the ink pad was covered by the concubine, the color was mixed, and the pink cover was a little gray. The overall color is a little too light and not clear enough. However, after receiving it, one of the good sisters gave this evaluation: "Who said that the eraser is used to erase typos, but to engrave seals!"

＜Designated for friends-Part1＞

One of my good sisters loves Lala Bears (リラックマ), and at her request, I carved two Lala Bears for her.

Small description of the work: Lala bear who is lying on his side lazily, holding his head up with his hands and saying Hi.

Short description of the work: A lala bear with puffy cheeks while eating toast. Add a horizontal line and a square frame next to it, cover it on paper, it can be used as a list of to-dos for the day, and you can tick the box when you are done.

＜Designated by friends-Part2＞

Small description of the work: The picture above was engraved for another friend, because her nickname is Shiitake, so she engraved a smiling Shiitake mushroom, plus the words BEST FRIEND. The picture below is the rabbit pill (うさまる) designated by the good sisters! Although the skills were not skilled enough at that time, friends still praised the venue and praised it as a divine craftsmanship.

＜Animals＞

Brief description of the work: In 2018, when I met the Year of the Dog, I carved a dog wearing a striped scarf with raised hands and cheering~

Brief description of the work: A bird with a rose in its mouth perched on the tail of a big-eyed cat.

＜Wedding blessing＞

Brief description of the work: A sweet couple of the bridegroom and the bride, nose to nose, with a happy love in the middle. The words お銀せに (be happy) are added to it.

1. I originally wanted to arrange the more than 100 seals in a row, which is both spectacular and can see the changes in the engraving in the early and later stages from the entity, but unfortunately the entity has been taken away by the garbage truck (crying). Although the photos I found are all early works, it is a little shameful to put them on the table, and the photography skills are not good, but I am still very fortunate that there are only a few photos of the works left at that time to mourn.

2. Because the organizer @taolesi mentioned in the essay that he is a visually impaired person who is almost blind, so he hopes to add a simple description to the introduction, so that he can appreciate the works in the article. I hope I'm not too offensive to say this, it's a bit shocking to read the article at the moment! My habit of posting has always been to insert a few illustrations drawn by myself in each article, but I never thought of using words to describe it, because before this, I did not expect that there are visually impaired people in Matt City. , the narrowness of the individual makes it difficult for me to imagine how they can swim in this sea of words without being hindered. Later, after reading other articles from the organizer, I realized that with the aid of the computer, the text is not an obstacle, but the image. This is the first time I have tried to describe an image through words, and I have once again realized the limitations of my words. I can only describe it in simple words. I am very doubtful about what kind of picture can be formed. It's not easy.
