[Recommendation for English learning] Engoo 1 to 1 online English tutoring guide and experience
Do you always set learning English well as your New Year's goal, but you can't achieve it every year? In fact, it is very convenient to learn English now, and many online resources can make it easy for you to learn without going out. This time I am very happy to receive an invitation from Engoo to provide a one-month online tutoring experience in English. "Music's Reading Space" has received non-book cooperation for the first time in more than a year, and I am happy (sprinkling flowers).
Without further ado, let's get into the theme of leaf matching. This article will be divided into two parts. The first part will help you understand the features and usage of Engoo in an all-round way; the second part will share my experience.
【Full Raiders of Engoo Platform】
Engoo is an online one-to-one tutoring platform that allows you to learn English with foreign teachers easily and happily without going out. Here are 4 features of Engoo:
[1. High CP value]
Compared with other English online tutoring platforms, Engoo's price can be said to be quite affordable. A 25-minute class costs as little as 100 yuan. And they are all 1-to-1 teaching, which can be completely customized for you, without the trouble of sharing classes with others, and the CP value is very high. Course plans are divided into two types: General and Premium . General courses are taught by teachers whose second language is English, while Premium is taught by native speakers. Payment is divided into monthly payment, semi-annual payment, annual payment and other plans. You can choose according to the number of courses you want to take every day, which is very flexible. Details of the course programme can be found here .
In addition to English, Engoo has also launched new online courses in three languages: Chinese, Japanese and Korean . If you are a student who purchased the Premium plan, you can book courses with instructors from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea to learn other languages.
[2. Time flexibility]
Another advantage of Engoo is that the class time is very flexible. With teachers all over the world, classes can be taught anytime, anywhere. As long as you book 15 minutes in advance, you are not afraid to find a teacher even in the middle of the night. The booking interface is as follows:
Once you have selected a date and time, teachers who are available for classes will be listed below based on your filter criteria. I always make an appointment half to an hour before class, and I can find the teacher without any problem every time.
[3. Various teaching materials]
Engoo offers quite a variety of teaching materials, with content on up to 18 different topics such as children, travel/culture, business, pronunciation, world literature, speaking quizzes, daily news, and more. In addition, it is divided into four categories: beginner, intermediate, advanced and proficient according to the English level of the students. No matter what stage of learners you are, you are not afraid of finding suitable resources.
If you are a friend who wants to prepare for TOEFL or IELTS , Engoo also has related textbooks to use. Although I don't have any exam requirements, I still tried it out for you. It's well designed. Those who have exam requirements can refer to it.
If you don't have a topic you want to talk about, you can also choose to have a free conversation. I usually choose a topic to talk about. If I talk about an interesting topic, I will talk about it along the way. If I talk about it, I will go back to the textbook. I can attack and retreat. In addition, I highly recommend the topic conversation textbook, which will provide interesting topics such as " e-book vs. paper book " or " will history repeat itself " for you to discuss with the teacher. Very helpful.
[4. The class interface is easy to operate]
Another thing that I think is good about Engoo is that its operation interface is simple and intuitive, and its functions are also very complete. The class page is shown below.
You can choose whether to open a video, and provide dialogue and note boxes, so that teachers can also teach by typing (such as word explanations or related links).
The system also provides an online dictionary function very intimately. There are four language dictionaries of "English, Japanese, Chinese (Traditional), and Chinese (Simplified)" for you to use. Allows you to quickly look up in class, without the need to open another dictionary page.
In addition, if you have any questions about the content of the class, you can also discuss with the teacher by highlighting it, which is very convenient.
If you have any questions about class-related issues, Engoo also offers exclusive consulting services. If you encounter any learning problems after registration, there will be a dedicated consultant to help you answer it! Off topic, Engoo has now become the official IELTS registration center. If you want to register for the IELTS test, you can enter the exclusive code [BCA170] to get a Premium course for free! For details on how to enter, please refer to here .
【My Engoo Trial Experience】
After talking about the above more official introduction. Next, I would like to share with you my experience of actually trying Engoo for a month. Let me start with two things that I really like about Engoo.
[1. Contact with multiple accents]
Engoo's teachers are all over the world and are quite diverse. Since Engoo provided me with a general plan, the class would be taught by teachers who can speak English as a second foreign language. I think it's good too. After all, with my experience working in foreign business, I probably won't have problems communicating with native English speakers. The real obstacles are those non-native speakers, especially the terrible Indian accent...
Here is an Indian teacher, Avaani , who is a very kind Indian mother. Although there is a slight Indian accent, the overall is quite standard. I think it can be used as a mild version of Indian accent practice and share with you. Off topic, she told me that her son had just been admitted to an IT-related university, and asked me how easy it was to enter the semiconductor industry. I said that there is absolutely no problem with the shortage of semiconductors now, but I didn't tell her that it was a fire pit (laughs).
However, according to my class experience this month, these teachers who use English as their second language on the platform, whether they are from Eastern Europe or South America, actually have a slight or no accent.
Like Shaner , a teacher from Nicaragua (yes, the one who recently broke off diplomatic relations), he told me that Nicaragua was once colonized by Spain and the United Kingdom, and he was born in an English-speaking area and spoke English since he was a child, strictly speaking, a native English speaker, just because They are divided into general areas based on their nationality. So if you want to practice listening with different accents, you may have to try your luck.
[2. Practice and exchange with the world]
In addition to being able to get used to the accents of different places, another thing I like about foreign teachers is that they can communicate with people from all over the world.
For example, when I met Mehdi from Afghanistan, I asked him a lot about the situation in Afghanistan. He mentioned that male and female classes are indeed separated now, but because the Taliban is busy with diplomacy, there are no stricter regulations for the time being. In addition, Afghanistan's economy is really bad right now, and many people need to make a living by changing the items in the sellers on Facebook. He is pessimistic about the future of Afghanistan, and believes that the problem of proxy warfare is basically unsolved.
Another example I met Thandie from Swatini (formerly Swaziland). Since Swatini is Taiwan's only diplomatic country in Africa, she specifically mentioned their friendly relations with Taiwan, which can be said to be very cordial.
Finally, I would like to recommend Allek from Bosnia. Because when I introduced myself, I mentioned that I was working on a blog and a fan club, he asked me about the business situation. As a result, I chatted with him about the troubles and the reach rate, worried about whether the types of books to share are too broad, lack of personal characteristics and other issues, and I accidentally talked a lot.
But after listening carefully, he encouraged me to say: "But Engoo will come to you now, doesn't it mean that you have some achievements?" At the end of the course, he specially said to me: "I hope your blog can be more successful. Good." It turns out that I'm not only serving English, but also chicken soup!
I think the purpose of learning English is ultimately to communicate with the world. And Engoo can be said to help you connect to the world in advance in a gentler way. The teachers I have met are very kind, they will listen carefully to you, and then guide you to express, and they will also give me some better ideas. Through these diverse conversations that break out of my comfort zone, my English expression ability can be said to have improved a lot.
After talking about what I liked about Engoo, let’s talk a little bit (?) Basically, I don’t think there is anything unsatisfactory about the course, but the following two points may need to be paid a little attention.
[1. Occasionally there is a problem with the connection]
This is more obvious when meeting African teachers. I have encountered at least two or three times that I have been disconnected in the middle of the conversation with the teacher. Some teachers even told me that because of poor reception, they needed to turn off the video to attend class. I can't help but feel lucky to be in Taiwan, where most places have good internet connections.
In my own experience, I have never encountered connection problems in classes with teachers from Eastern Europe or South America. You may have to think about it when making an appointment.
[2. Course plan restrictions]
In addition, when you choose a plan, you may need to consider your own learning situation a little bit, and don't overestimate yourself, because Engoo's system is to let the class flow before you finish it, and there is no flexibility to refund the fee. If you are not sure at the beginning, you may consider starting with 8 classes a month, and then purchase course coupons to customize your class time.
【Summarize】
This month's Engoo experience course is quite rich and enjoyable. I have textbooks on practically all topics, and they're basically pretty well organized. The teachers are also very professional, and some of the more strict teachers will even correct your pronunciation and grammar all the time, which is quite solid. And the flexibility of class is really a plus for someone like me who doesn't have a fixed time off work.
In short, if you want to strengthen speaking and listening, I think the one-on-one online teaching environment provided by Engoo will definitely be of great help, and I recommend it to everyone!
Finally, an exclusive discount code is also provided here: engoox (unlimited plans are now discounted by 300 yuan, and cannot be shared with other Engoo promotions).
