(My meat-free plan is simply not to eat meat. I eat eggs, green onions, and garlic, so it’s not the same as the general definition of vegetarianism.)
Let's talk about why we started this program:
In July, Ye Shao submitted an application for British permanent residence, but due to some personal mistakes, he was worried that the application would be rejected and unsuccessful. The official promised to inform the application result before July 28, but by the evening of July 27, there was no news. Ye Shao was restless and extremely anxious.
As I cooked dinner, I watched him constantly check his e-mail, and I slowly became anxious.
Obtaining permanent residence in the UK is Ye Shao's dream after graduation. You must know that it was very difficult to find a job in the UK at the beginning, and it took more than 100 resumes to seize the opportunity to stay. Now that I have worked hard for 5 years, if it is because of some small mistakes that I cannot get the right of abode, it will really make people want to hit the wall. Because this means that after 5 years of hard work, you can't change jobs freely, let alone get a job you like.
Young Master Ye was already so anxious, and I couldn't show it no matter how anxious I was, so I could only pretend to be calm to appease him. Moreover, what can be done, what should be done, has been done, and then it can only be left to fate.

Regardless of whether it has anything to do with my prayer, I want to do it, so I decided to start abstaining from meat for a month in August!

(Maybe it's because he can't do anything, usually I'm cooking, if he doesn't eat it, he'll cook it himself, but he's lazy XDD)
My mother cooks mostly vegetable dishes at home, and occasionally uses some vegetarian ingredients to cook dishes. In addition, our family believes in Buddhism, and we are vegetarians on the first and fifteenth day of the new year, and it is really rare to see big fish and big meat. Maybe because of this, I don't have that "must have meat in every meal" demand.
Originally, I wanted to use some vegetarian ingredients to cook dishes (vegetarian ham, vegetarian lamb, and vegetarian fish balls) occasionally during this period. But those familiar fasting ingredients are not found in the UK. They usually sell soy-based meat substitutes that are not particularly tasty compared to those in Malaysia. (Of course there are delicious ones, but they are more like fast food. For example, Beyond Burger's vegetarian hamburger steak is super delicious, but it is very expensive, so I can't eat it all the time. 〒▽〒)
If you don't have familiar ingredients, you can only use your imagination, or look for recipes online.
This month, the one that I eat the most without feeling tired is the king oyster mushroom . I think it is a good meat substitute. It is a bit chewy and fragrant. It can be fried a little and sprinkled with salt and pepper. King Oyster Mushrooms, Braised King Oyster Mushrooms, and Three Cups of King Oyster Mushrooms, which I love so much recently! ! I also made some vegetarian dumplings myself so that when I'm lazy, I can cook some noodle soup and eat them together.
During the period, there are also fried cabbage, tomato eggs, anesthetic eggs, broccoli salad, fried cabbage with dried tofu, vegetarian sausages, vegetarian pizza, and vegetarian burgers. . .
Sometimes I'm too lazy to order takeout, but vegetarian options are really poor. During our vegetarian diet, we ate a Mexican restaurant because he provided a more diverse and delicious vegetarian food, and even used jackfruit instead of meat.
During the period, in order to celebrate Ye Shao’s successful residency, we went to London one day to eat a lunch vegetarian set meal at a one-star restaurant (some dishes were really unexpectedly delicious, some were pleasantly surprised 😍), and dinner was vegan The Indian restaurant eats Indian food (except for me and Ye Shao, the whole restaurant is full of Indians, not even a white man, the two of us are like tourists in it XDDD)
In fact, there are quite a few snacks to meat food this month, and it is the third-to-last day after the end of the plan. Because I'm lazy to cook, I want to try the newly bought snail noodles (because some people say it smells very stinky, and they are curious about how smelly, so I want to experience it and try it XD) I just forget that snails are actually seafood . . . After I finished eating, I posted a photo of snail noodles on IG, and a friend who knew I was implementing a meatless plan told me that snails were seafood. . Actually lost at the last minute! ! ! Ah, so annoying. .
Finally decided to extend the meat-free plan for two more days as compensation. (So is it still a success?)
In fact, this month has passed in a flash, and it feels quite fast. Ye Shao also said that there was nothing special about it, but he occasionally wanted to eat a double-layered beef burger but had to hold back. Except for this occasional craving, it was fine, it was not as difficult as he imagined.
Meatless program ended, my weight didn't go up or down, it stayed the same, still the same fat. Except for the day when I accidentally ate snail powder, I was very sleepy and sleepy after eating, and the other days were normal.
I have written about saving tropical rainforests before, which mentioned that eating less meat (especially red meat) can help the tropical rainforests become smaller. After discussion, we will implement the plan for less meat and more vegetables for a long time - no meat for at least three days a week, and if you eat meat, try to avoid red meat (I don't know if you know that pork is actually red meat).
Although the power is not large, it is still a little bit of power to contribute as much as possible. It would be more meaningful if this belief was conveyed to more people.
