"You are very young now. Do you think the books you read now will be useful when you are old?" He said, "Yes, knowledge is with people for a lifetime." I added, "Yes, knowledge will be with people. For a lifetime, but can you be sure that the knowledge you have learned will be useful in the future??” He asked: “… Do you have one?" He said, "No, now everyone drives, and no one rides a horse." I asked, "Then are you sure that people who make a living by driving will still be able to make a living twenty years from now?"

I taught a second-year middle school student Chinese, and gave him a book similar to the introduction to poetry, first taught him "Gaixia Song", "Qingming", "Spring Dawn", "Quanju" (Li Qingzhao), "Jiang Xue", "Titles" Xilin Wall", "Returning to Hometown Puppet Book" and other well-known poems. Then ask him to choose a poem from the book and teach me in the next lesson. Yes, it is to teach students to learn by themselves, and then to teach others. He chose Yan Zhenqing's "Encouraging Learning".

In the beginning, he just taught directly according to the poem. The meaning of this poem is very straightforward. After he translated it according to the language, he finished teaching. Of course I won't let him pass easily.

First I asked him, "Who is Yan Zhenqing?" He read the information in the book and said, "Poet, calligrapher, official, military strategist." I then asked, "What era is he from?" Said: "Tang Dynasty".

I would like to ask which period of the Tang Dynasty. I happened to teach him the history of the Tang Dynasty in the last lesson. The period from Emperor Taizong to the Kaiyuan period was the early period of the Tang Dynasty, and it was also a period of peace and prosperity; from the Anshi Rebellion to the local separatism was the middle period; It was the late period from the central government to the demise of the Tang Dynasty. He couldn't answer, so he could only check it online, and after checking it, he answered, "It's a character from the early to mid-term."

I then asked him when he wrote the poem. He looked online again and said he couldn't find it. I also looked online and couldn't find it. That is to say, people are not too particular about when poetry is made (purely personal opinion).

If he couldn't find it, he continued to ask: "The first sentence says that the lights are on at the third watch, when does the third watch mean, and when does the fifth watch refer to?" data of. "According to the information from Wikipedia, there are 1 watch to 5 watch, each watch is two hours, 1 watch is from 7:00 to 9:00, 2 is from 9:00 to 11:00, and 3 is from 11:00 to 1:00. Five watch is three to five o'clock."

Originally, I wanted to ask him what "lighting" meant in the Tang Dynasty, but I didn't want him to search again, so I asked him, "Do you think eleven o'clock is too late for modern society?" He thought about it and said "It doesn't count." I asked, "Why?" He said, "Because some people don't sleep until one or two o'clock, they are still using their phones, and it's still early in the morning." I also count this answer. satisfy.

I asked, "The second sentence is exactly when a boy is studying, so why is he using 'boy'?" He said, "Because girls in ancient times had a lower social status than boys, and only boys could read books... Then why Li Qingzhao Can you read?" I thought to myself that this kid can think of this, not bad.

I asked, "Then do you think about who could read in ancient times?" He said, "I don't know that." I went on to say, "There are basically two types of people who read in the Tang Dynasty, those who were officials and those who were rich. If you can send your son to a private school, or invite someone to be a teacher in your own home, but other classes don’t have this ability, you can’t let your son read. So if you can read and write, you can already make a living, as if helping others You can make money by writing letters, reading letters, inscriptions, etc.” He said, “What? That way, you can make money.” I said, “Yeah, in the Tang Dynasty, modern times don’t seem to be very good.”

Then I asked, "Why does the author persuade people to read at night?" He said, "Because you have to work during the day, you have time to read at night." I asked, "What kind of work can I do during the day?" I want him to think about the life of the ancients. He thought about it for a while and said, "...Well, there are farmers...the officials...wait a minute, don't those scholars also study during the day? They have to take exams after reading books!" I said, "Oh , not bad, what does the author mean...?"

He said, "...Ah, tell them to read not only during the day, but also at night, that is, day and night."

I asked, "Is it similar to the students who are preparing for the exam now?" He said, "Yes! Some of my classmates are still studying until two or three in the morning! When I went back to school, the dark circles were very obvious."

I thought to myself that the first two sentences were almost the same. I asked him the meaning of the sentence in the last two sentences. Then I asked him: "Do you agree with the author? If you don't read when you are young, you will regret it when you are old?" He said: " ...Yes, if you don't have knowledge when you are old, life should be difficult. ... Wait, aren't there many courses for the elderly now? I have seen some institutions that offer flower arrangement courses for the elderly, calligraphy courses, and even English. Huh!" I said, "Good observation."

The following is a more subjective teaching

I said, "You are very young now. Do you think the books you read now will be useful when you are old?" He said, "Yes, knowledge is with people for a lifetime." I said again, "Yes, knowledge You will be with people for a lifetime, but can you be sure that the knowledge you have learned will be useful in the future??" He asked, "...What do you mean, I don't quite understand..."

I said, "In ancient times, there was a profession like driving a carriage, is there still one today?" He said, "No, now everyone drives, and no one rides a horse." I asked, "Then you can be sure that you can drive a car. Will those who make a living still make a living in twenty years?"

He black question mark.

I asked again, "The car will drive automatically without anyone, do you think it's possible?"

He suddenly realized and said, "I see, you want to say AI artificial intelligence."

I nodded with satisfaction.

The next step is to discuss "Will the book I read now be useful in the future?", but the length is longer, and I will write it next time.
