Tiger Reading Does Not Eat Children | Crowdfunding books on "Postpartum Depression"!
[Disclaimer: I don’t know the author😄I’m just shouting for her and for us like her! 】
Last time I introduced the European Book Review , the launch of this book started with an extremely successful Kickstarter Campaign. In recent years, whether it is the famous Kickstarter, Indiegogo or other crowdfunding platforms, they have attracted many writers and even publishers who want to break the tradition and not die in the publishing industry to try crowdfunding platforms. My second master's thesis researched book crowdfunding and crowdfunding publishing on crowdfunding platforms. I will share it in "Waihuo" when I have time. This time, one of the books to be mentioned in the column "Tiger Reads but Cannot Eat Children" has not yet been published!
Are there any books that you’re looking forward to that haven’t been published yet? If you're a fan of an author, of course. But what if this is a demo work? Without the schedule of a traditional publishing house, would you look forward to it, or would you, as a reader, know about the existence of this book? One of the problems that book crowdfunding solves is this.
In addition, books are aimed at potential readers. So, as a creator, how do you know "You are not alone" at the beginning of writing? Will there be readers looking forward to your book? Book crowdfunding provides such a platform.
Unbound is a platform that I have studied in depth, and it was also the first book crowdfunding platform that I started paying attention to. Today, I introduce such a book👉 "All My Worldly Joy" . The support for this book has reached 82%, including me👇
The mommy meetups in the past few weeks were not crowded, but turned into in-depth sharing sessions. A mother from India had a caesarean section, but because of the language barrier, she was treated poorly by the hospital and was forced to take a shower two days after the caesarean section. There was also another mother from Brazil who had a baby with a heavier weight after birth. Qing was forced by the nurse not to breastfeed and needed formula milk. Fortunately, it was her second child and she secretly continued to breastfeed during the three days in the hospital...
It is said that giving birth is a time for a woman to pass through the gate of hell. Sometimes, after giving birth, a woman has to go through another test when she faces doctors, nurses, and visiting family members in the hospital. 👆The author suffered a sudden mental breakdown one month after undergoing an emergency caesarean section, and was sent to a mental hospital (with an infant intensive care unit) along with the child. Also, it seems that such a ward has been seen in Germany. It was only after treatment in a mental hospital that she realized that the caesarean section experience had caused her to suffer traumatic stress... In the book, she will recall the care given to her by doctors, nurses, and midwives after the operation in the hospital and the major deficiencies exposed in the care ( damn I can relate!)
Many times, during the delivery process, doctors, nurses, and midwives can use their professional knowledge to help, sometimes bringing mothers back from the dead. However, within three days after delivery and staying in the hospital, care It’s often not enough. I’ve heard this often, and it’s okay if I’ve experienced it myself. It’s not a horror story. However, the author's experience in the UK may give many mothers who have experienced unpleasant or even traumatic experiences a feeling that "you are not alone". Therefore, a week or two after giving birth, I supported this book crowdfunding project without hesitation.
The reason for not hesitating is:
1. When I was working on my master’s thesis, I interviewed one of their senior editors and one of their crowdfunding writers, and learned a lot of knowledge. I have also been paying attention to the website unbound;
2. Most book crowdfunding will print the name of the backer at the end of the book. After the physical book is published, it is very meaningful whether it is given as a gift or as a souvenir for yourself.
3. I am fully aware of the seriousness of postpartum depression and the urgency of attention. It is crucial for mothers who have experienced "Baby Blue" or been diagnosed with "postpartum depression" to know that "you are not alone" and "together, we are stronger" !
The title of the book " All My Worldly Joy " is taken from a letter written by Henry VII's mother to him. Henry VII's mother, Margaret, gave birth to Henry VII when she was 13 years old. One can imagine the traumatic imprint of the childbirth process on a 13-year-old girl. Therefore, Margaret called Henry VII her " All My Worldly Joy "! Just four words, but infinitely expressing her love for Henry VII❤️! What a worldly joy! The Queen passed away, and the past and present of the royal family were once again put under the microscope. I wonder who can remember this sentence?
This project has not yet completed crowdfunding. If you want to support her, there is still time. You can also print your name on the back of the book! [Note: The crowdfunding process for unbound books is very long. Even if the crowdfunding is completed, it will take a long time to proofread, format and publish the book. Sometimes it will take more than a year, especially if you choose to support physical books. . 】I really want to see this book written, so I will recommend it. May your support and mine help make this book available.
I myself am a believer in #crowdfunding publishing # book crowdfunding, and of course I am not a blind fan. I may introduce more unbound books in the future, and I may also write about my previous research on crowdfunding publishing, but I will not deviate from book reviews😄
This photo was taken in East Germany. I think it is this photo that perfectly illustrates the anticipation and anxiety of a pregnant woman.
That kind of hesitation that is daunting but with no way out, the courage to convince myself... combined with my own feelings and those of the expectant mothers I know, I can better identify the woman in this photo. We have all seen her expression and gaze. In fact, sadness is really like a river. Sometimes it dries up and sometimes it has rough waves. As long as we connect with each other, share your and my stories, understand and support each other, everything will be fine.
Like my work? Don't forget to support and clap, let me know that you are with me on the road of creation. Keep this enthusiasm together!
