活了一把年紀,仍未了解自己

just like to mess around

I'd rather give up the easy and take the hard

Although today's mobile phone instant photography monopolizes photography creation, in fact, many young people in the market love to shoot film.

My eldest daughter was also eager to try it out and fell in love with Kodak's M35 .

But in my eyes, these plastic case cameras are nothing but toys, not only the aperture is pitiful (f/10), but the optical quality of the lens is even more regrettable. After hearing this, I frowned. It was rare that my daughter had the heart to take pictures. How could the equipment be sloppy?

As a result, I found this old guy who has been in the dust for more than ten years - Nikon F100.

The solid and reliable body, combined with the optical performance of the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 D, is another dimension. It is simply not comparable to those shabby and colorful plastic toy machines. The baby girl wants to take a film photo, this package is not too fast to achieve the ideal?

"But Laodou, it's so heavy"

The F100 plus the lens weighs a total of 940 grams, which is only 840 grams heavier than the M35... that's it.

"Zhong Youjie, I don't know how to use it"

What's so difficult? On the film, just adjust the ISO speed better, and then switch to P mode. Of course, if you want creamy bokeh, you'd better choose A mode, and Nikkor D-series mirrors need to turn the aperture ring to the smallest value before it can be linked with the body dial. In addition, the metering mode should also be changed to center-weighted..

"Why don't you just wait until I use the M35 back, okay?"

As a result, M35 became a Christmas gift for my daughter, and young people just don't know how to appreciate classics.

Picking up the F100 on the desk is indeed staggeringly heavy by today's standards, not to mention that the cost of filming is not cheap. The beautiful photos of digital photography are readily available, and it is even more convenient to share after shooting, so why bother?

Instead, I became more and more interested.

Fortunately, today I don't have to worry about not being able to pay for the film and the development fee. As a result, I stuffed a roll of Vibe 400 and embarked on the road of film shooting again - "Re" is actually not quite correct, even if I was able to shoot back then. On the most days, I rarely go to film, and I don't remember why I bought this F100. I never thought that this machine could still be used in my hands today, and it would be worthwhile for me to find it after more than ten years.

Then again, why did I go to shoot film? Is it really like what the girl thought because the color of the film is beautiful and the texture is good? Or do you want to pretend to be Wen Qing at an age?

In fact, with the current digital photography technology, I don't think that film has any advantages; if you want to compete with the so-called "texture", in the end, it is actually a matter of different image parameters. With larger format, stronger photosensitive element, and more accurate color processing technology, why not produce beautiful pictures?

But with Meitu, is photography everything?

Photography is an artistic creation. Going through every step of the process and precipitating the emotions invested in it is also an indispensable part of creation. Extremely compresses the middle part, only focusing on the convenience and speed of imaging, but sometimes it is confusing, and after shooting, it feels unsteady.

Anything that is too easy to come by is no longer valuable.

Of course, I still love digital photography, and I want to buy a Z9 or X100, which is still a true digital device controller. But looking at the piles of film photos that I just took, which are not considered masterpieces at all, I began to understand what the so-called "texture" is: it is this kind of persistence that asks for hardships and chooses easy things to make things difficult. Emotions are lifted and condensed at the moment of pressing the shutter, and it is not complete until you flush the film out.

It is because of the fussing that the final photo, even if it is unremarkable, is still full of emotional weight.

I don’t know how long this interest will last, but after filming Vibe, I want to try Kodak Gold again, as well as Provia and Velvia, which I haven’t seen for a long time. It should keep me entertained for a while, right?

In fact, today, my daughter took the M35 by her side and filmed together. In the end, the two father and daughter went out to shoot the film together, which was really unexpected.
