International Day Against Homophobia, we all have the ability to love

The origins of the International Day Against Homophobia can be traced back to the day the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses 30 years ago.

At the beginning of summer every year, rainbow flags from all over the world are rising, which makes you feel the friendly atmosphere. Like the International Day Against Homophobia today (5/17), and the Rainbow Pride month throughout June, parades with various characteristics are in full swing. At the same time, this year (2020), Taiwan's same-sex marriage law comes to its first anniversary, and after winning the first milestone in Asia, gender education and the rainbow economy are continuing to ferment.

When Dichotomy Turns To Spectrum

I am deeply impressed by the changes after the passing of the special law. Many gay couples on the Internet have entered the palace of marriage, no longer suppressing their emotions because of unequal rights; friends around them have finally broken through their hearts and come out generously; in the aspect of gender equality education, Even though there is still a lot of room for discussion, it is more valued by society because of it, which I think is a good thing.

Take me as an example, a few years ago, when I talked to a friend about my girlfriend, the other party would often ask: "Then do you belong to the boy-like side, or the girl-like character?" You will get a confused look.

In recent years, LGBTQ and other LGBT groups have promoted knowledge such as LGBTQ and gender spectrum to the general public, advocating that gender identity is not limited to a single setting of dichotomy, but a fluid spectrum. Heterosexual hegemony is stigmatized and discriminated against.

We all have the right to love

The first anniversary of the special law, has our life changed on this day? The survey shows that after the passage of the special law, daily life has not been negatively affected , and the proportion exceeds 90%. This also means that in the past, smears such as "homosexuality will cause social chaos" are useless. As time progresses, democratic Taiwan is promoted through the bill. And people's ideas have changed, and they are moving step by step in the direction of equal rights.

Even today in the 21st century, homophobia and stereotypes have not been completely eliminated, we still have to live a good life, continue to live in the way we love, nurture the cherished seeds in the way we are good at, grow wings of love, and pursue love courage.
