【 #Ukraine live report : Zeng Shengguang's farewell ceremony】 "He is my son, I am proud." The 25-year-old Taiwanese volunteer Zeng Shengguang went to Ukraine, unfortunately, on November 2 in the eastern Luhansk state, with the Russian military Under fire, he was hit on the back of the head by a mortar shell and died on the spot. He became the first known victim of Taiwan since the start of the war between Ukraine and Russia. The Uzbek side held a farewell ceremony for him in the western city of Lviv on November 14. Zeng Shengguang's family and colleagues also attended. Su Yurou, Zeng's mother, was extremely distressed and needed support several times. "My heart hurts," but she was proud of her son's contribution in Ukraine. The farewell ceremony was co-organized by the Ukrainian government and the Taiwan Representative Office in Warsaw, Poland. It was held in a church in Lviv. Zeng Shengguang’s mother, sister and widow were accompanied by the ambassador of the Taiwan Representative Office in Warsaw, Poland. Representatives from the Carpathian Sich Battalion (Carpathian Sich), the volunteer battalion to which Zeng Shengguang belongs, also sent representatives. Before the ceremony began, many Ukrainians came to condolences. Some citizens specially put on black shirts and said to Zeng’s mother, “Thank you for everything Shengguang has done for Ukraine.” Zeng Shengguang walked into a different place alone. Zeng’s mother told Shengguang to be careful every time she talked on the phone, “He didn’t dare to tell me the seriousness, but when I was video chatting with him, I heard the sound of gunfire every time I was talking on the phone. Tell him to be careful, and he said he would." Mother Zeng revealed that Zeng Shengguang has been keeping in touch with his family, and promised to leave Ukraine and return to China by the end of this year, so that the family can reunite during the New Year. It is a pity that things backfired, and the widow and 5-year-old child are now left behind. The family members rushed across the ocean from Hualien after receiving the news, to see Shengguang for the last time. Zeng Shengguang's body will be moved to Kiev for cremation and buried in Taiwan, the time is yet to be determined. A billboard was set up outside the Lviv Square, with a brief introduction of Zeng Shengguang: born in 1997, a Taiwanese, studying in Hualien, serving in the army in Taiwan from 2017 to 2021, and later joined the 49th Infantry of the Carpathian Sich Battalion Battalion to assist the Ukrainian army in Udon to repel the invaders.
