"Suffix" Call for Papers | Still Want to Watch the Sea Alone

(edited)

That day, I rode a rented scooter and wandered to the sea of Penghu. Using my bag as a pillow, I picked up the book at hand and lay on the beach reading. Reading the book, Harumute went into the mountains for search and rescue, and because of the long-lost seascape, I recalled in my mind the days of watching the sea and singing songs every day in the Sunshine Coast of Australia.

In those days, I always watched the sea by myself. When looking at the sea, I never feel lonely. Loneliness is not the product of the sea, the crowd is.

When I listened to the sound of the tide, my inner peace and ripples rose and fell with the waves. Like breathing, like a dream. In the ocean currents and the light, she, who had no chance to fall in love, sneaked into the subconscious again.

I remember every call we had. The two people are separated by 6,600 kilometers. Among the names of countless sea areas, the invisible straight line between the two of us even interspersed with an island country called Papua New Guinea. What an unfamiliar name, just like you today.

After experiencing the heartbreak and the long road in the future, even though he has already embraced his belonging, he has become a real person because of his journey, but he has never been able to see through the deep sea. And that depth is just waiting, waiting for the later me, when I want to know more about the environment and people, I realize that the sea has always endured the pain, but never cried out in pain, and people always go for me or change, and move towards their own beliefs.

In this excessive noise and disorder, I, who was still reasonably born in the world, still want to watch the sea alone.

Watching the tides again and again, the waves flow with the gravitational flow of the moon, let the line of sight chase the tail of the waves and retreat to the sea, until you look at the end of the sea horizon, endless, endless.
