On August 10, 2022, the result of the second instance of the Xianzi v. Zhu Jun case came out, and Xianzi lost the case. The Beijing No. 1 Intermediate Court ruled that the evidence submitted by the appellant was insufficient to prove that Zhu Jun sexually harassed him, and the first-instance verdict found that the facts were clear and the application of the law was correct, so the appeal was rejected and the original verdict was upheld.

Before and after the court session, Xianzi posted a post and a video saying: "It's not meaningless."

As a feminist who has been following this case for a long time, I would like to try to answer: Why is Xianzi v. Zhu Jun important to survivors of sexual harassment and the (pan-)feminist community in China? Why are so many people disregarding the "bombing" and insisting on spreading news through social accounts, even defying police and plainclothes checks, and going to the scene from other places to show support at their own expense?

The author believes that the reason why so many people are paying attention to this case and accompany Xianzi online and offline is not only because Zhu Jun is one of the most well-known accused in China's #MeToo movement (there is another more powerful whistleblower). , Zhang Gaoli, the former vice premier of the State Council , whose name cannot be mentioned in China), is also related to Xianzi’s personal characteristics and the various historical backgrounds of the Chinese feminist movement and the anti-sexual harassment movement.

Although Xianzi v. Zhu Jun lost the case, it has become a highlight in the history of China's modern anti-sexual harassment movement. This history is also a history written by countless oppressed women.
