Confucius said, "Repay virtue with virtue, and repay grievance with directness", which means that if people treat you well, you will treat him well. If people treat you badly and have no affection, then you can do whatever you want, no need to talk nonsense.

"Repaying grievances with virtue" and "Thank you for those who hurt you" are strange expressions, which are not in line with human nature at all. But many religions advocate it, and many seem to be doing it. If you look carefully at what they say, you can see that No matter what religion it is, As long as you say something like this, you are probably either deceiving yourself or satirizing the other party.

Deceive yourself with no resentment in your heart,  accuse the other party of causing harm. That's all.
