What is the relationship between studying a department and employment?

In the market, there seem to be some surveys on the correlation between the degree of study and employment, but I can't find the latest statistics, so I won't cite it. Although my own department and employment are positively related, and the graduation path of my classmates is also concentrated in a few fixed industries.

However, I just recently had a friend who was looking for a job within a year of graduating from college, and I was hesitant about what kind of job I wanted to choose.

I asked: So what are your classmates doing?

They just gave some examples that didn't sound like they had anything to do with what they were learning.

The words "unemployed after graduation" and "unemployed when discharged from the army" came out of their mouths again.

How to understand this situation?

One of the ways is to treat college as a “ process ” of learning, to help you think independently, then it doesn’t matter which department you study in, as long as you have the ability to “ think independently ” and “ solve problems ”.

However, from the perspective of "applying what you have learned", if the department you study can be useful, you can maximize the benefits of the time spent, so that you don't need to spend extra time learning other specialties, you can immediately use.

If you like the perspective of “applying what you have learned”, you might as well reverse the order of your choices. You can choose a department or course after you know what you want to do, instead of waiting until you graduate to choose what job you want to look for.

You may ask: How do you know what you want to do if you haven’t graduated yet?

You can see more and experience more. When you see more, you will naturally have the ideal job in your mind~
