Daily feed | What is brand dilution? Don't think that CC0 will definitely sell!

In the last article, everyone explained the magic of CC0, and this article does the opposite, and talks about the unspeakable side of CC0.

If you asked someone why he bought NFT three months ago, he might have said that he bought an IP copyright©️.

However, with the emergence of NFTs, if the IP you own is not a blue-chip brand, then the so-called IP is just a piece of dust in the universe.

There are so many Pokemons like Pokemon, and the most well-known ones are Bikachao and Charizard.

So CC0 emerged, which is a trade-off, sacrificing the ownership of IP in exchange for a rapid spread of influence in the short term.

However, not all NFTs are suitable for becoming CC0, because CC0 has the opportunity to cause serious "brand dilution".

Every brand/IP makes money because they successfully become a symbol of some group/culture/value.

But CC0 means that the whole world can use it arbitrarily, which means that a child-oriented IP has the opportunity to become the protagonist of pornography; a high-end cultural IP may become the spokesperson of the toilet🚽.

Therefore, an IP does not mean that the more open the copyright is, the more competitive it is, but how high its own positioning and inclusiveness are.

If an IP symbolizes a group of lunatics, doing bold things everywhere, then CC0 is a good choice (in reality there is: Godhatenft, which was popular before)

Otherwise, a series with bright fairy tales like Doodle could be the beginning of self-destruction if it were to go to CC0.

Ugh...so Winnie the Pooh...RIP 😶‍🌫️
