Instagram's Rise Story: A Program That Was Only Used for Punching

Remember why you used Instagram in the first place? Did you know that Instagram was originally just for punch cards?

Instagram founder Kevin. After Kevin Systrom once took a photo with his girlfriend, the girlfriend thought the photo was not beautiful enough and refused to post it on social platforms, which stimulated Systrom to develop Burbn, the predecessor of Instgram.

Burbn lets users check in at specific places, share photos and post their itineraries. The punch-in feature was common on many platforms at the time, but the addition of the photo-sharing feature made Burbn unique and garnered a $500,000 investment. However, many people use Burbn for the filter function, and leave the program after adding the filter to the photo.

Strom joined another partner at this time, Mike. Mike Krieger, they thought they should focus on making a phone program with photo sharing function as the main function, and renamed the program to Instagram, combining the words Instant (quick) and Telegram (telegram), with quick sharing of photos to other people mean.

Within 24 hours of launching the program, they had more than 20,000 downloads and more than a million users within a month. The most special thing is that the program only appeared in the Apple Store at that time, and the number is quite amazing. The version of Andriod appeared after 2 years.

In just 18 months, Instagram won the favor of Facebook, and finally sold it to Facebook for $1 billion, and developed into its current appearance.
