The evil of human nature is hard to describe

A few days ago, I saw a news report about a little girl missing in my city on a short video platform. Strictly speaking, this was a post from a private account. The little girl disappeared the day before the video was posted. I didn’t pay much attention to this video when I saw it. Until yesterday, another explosive piece of information was exposed.

It is said that the girl was raped and killed, and her body was dumped outdoors. The suspect was quickly arrested. We are horrified. The child is only 11 years old. What kind of person would do such an evil thing to such a young child? In addition, this incident happened around us, which inevitably makes us feel even more sad.

This incident attracted the attention of the citizens, because such vicious cases certainly happen from time to time across the country, but such an incident in our small city will inevitably attract great attention. People condemned the culprit and strongly suggested ending his life through the law.

This case reminds me of a Korean movie "I Saw the Devil", a crime movie starring Lee Byung-hun and Choi Min-sik. In the movie, Choi Min-sik plays an uncle who is an out-and-out demon. He seems to have a desire for rape and murder. From the perspective of ordinary people, it is definitely impossible to understand why he must kill the victim.

It was not until the second time I watched the movie that I caught a moment, that is, the family he grew up in was also weird. His mother doted on her children, and his father looked normal but always gave people a cold feeling. Perhaps such an environment triggered the devil gene buried in his bones.

However, most people, including officials, always have a one-sided or biased view when analyzing criminal cases. I always believe that the existence of the law is not mainly to punish criminals, but to prevent crimes. The same is true for the protection of children and adolescents. It cannot be solved by a few publicity campaigns.

Behind many events, we actually see social problems. Simply paying attention to and dealing with their consequences is probably like closing the fold after the sheep have been lost.
