【 8 Jin Café 】Afternoon Tea

Last Saturday, it was so hot that there was nowhere to go, but I didn't want to be stuffy at home blowing the air conditioner all the time, so I went to the community to check how my friends were cooling off recently. As a result, they found a historic coffee - 8 Jin Café. The refurbished and youthful atmosphere of this type of historic site is very appealing to me, and for me, who often go to Dadaocheng and Ningxia Night Market , although the location of the Taiwan New Culture Movement Memorial Hall is relatively peripheral, I have never found this museum. The existence of , is really too immature, and set off immediately after having brunch.

"Bajinsuo" is named after the Taiwanese homonym of " North Police Station" . It is unavoidable to first introduce the history of this historic building as follows:

• In 1932, the New Taipei North Police Station started construction at its current location (No. 87, Ningxia Road, Datong District, Taipei City).
• 1949 Criminal Police Corps Base
• 1985 Taipei City Government Police Department Ningxia Branch
• 1990 Taipei City Government Police Department Datong Branch
• Designated as a municipal monument on March 25, 1998
• In 2006, it was positioned as the preparatory office for the Memorial Hall of the Taiwan New Culture Movement .
• On October 14, 2018, the Memorial Hall of the Taiwan New Culture Movement was officially opened. It is operated by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Taipei City Government.

After arriving at the destination, I found that the architectural style of the North Police Station is very similar to the Tainan Museum of Fine Arts (the original Tainan Police Station ) that I went to before. It should be the style of the police station building in the Japanese occupation era, so I made a A comparison chart for easy identification.

Because it used to be a police station, there is bound to be a space design for prisoners like a detention center . In the fan-shaped monitoring room , as long as you stand in the center, you can supervise the seven fan-shaped detention cells through the advantage of sight. It is still possible to imagine the loss of freedom, the pain of the loss of light, and an atmosphere of chilling gloom.

There is also an AR (Augmented Reality) tour area. Through the entry of the latest technology, the seemingly serious and dull exhibition has been injected with some fresh vitality.

The 8Jin Café subtly appears in the spacious and open space on the first floor.

In order to echo the original construction site of the police station, the creative design of the menu being imprisoned appeared on each table. Take out the menu when ordering, it looks like a cute picture book. A little more reminder, but a little less gloomy, I really appreciate this kind of creativity.
